Busy at work today so I can't transcribe it.

Sefo did say though that "I am not letting Coach pull me out of a game again unless I am on a stretcher. Sorry if my Mom is listening."

Damn.

I was afraid this thread would never get back on track haha

Hawaii's QB is a runner and throws well on the run, Mac said. We typically have trouble with that, but minus the huge TD run by Kelly we contained him fairly well I think. Hawaii's top RB is out this game so that helps

That QB run was a bad breakdown. At least one guy (#31) failed his responsibility on the inverted veer ASU ran on that play. I don't know if we had seen that play before, but it is pretty common in football these days. Hope they get it ironed out.

If they continue to make the adjustments they did during the game then they should be alright. Same type of thing happened at UMass where a defender was right where they should be, second guessed himself, made a bad decision, and ended up out of the play. They are learning though, and pretty quickly I might add. The improvement in the D during the game itself was pretty cool to watch.

There's been some debate whether we have the talent to compete with the PAC12. For me, the ASU game began to demonstrate we have the talent, they are just young. As they learn and begin to play more quickly and more physically, we look really good. Holding ASU to under 40 yards (or whatever it was) in the 2nd quarter is pretty damn good.

Anyway, I hesitate to put too much on one game, and they may take a step back after taking 2 forward, but I like what I saw.

As long as they don't go backward this week, I will be happy. We have to stop the slide.

Our defense played pretty well considering who the opponent was, and our offense almost exploited their D.

I think it was a midline read option, typically on veers line that the QB is running off tackle and the RB is running a sweep. The fact that Kelly went right up the seam makes me infer that it was a DT read. Either way we defended it very poorly.

QB spy bit on the run fake. Leaving Kelly wide open up the middle.

Defense was set up to defend the play perfectly, just executed poorly.

Gotta admit, too, that Kelly held that fake a second longer than is usual, causing #31 to really bite on it, fully committing to the TB.
