Sick of "Ringo".

I don't post here much, usually check in daily to see what everybody is chattering about... But man, is anybody else ready for Kyle "Ringo" to seek employment elsewhere?

His questions in pressers are the worst, and his coverage of the team speaks for itself. His online chats are laughable.

The dude is a chode.

Thoughts on how to get him canned?

You are looking for Buffnik his office is down the hall on the left.

dropped the Camera this year after 18 years, right after the severed their relationship with NKR. He's got a little attitude about him that I can no longer stand. Just my opinion.

They should have kept Not Kyle Ringo and canned the real Kyle Ringo.

Ringo is a bit of a downer and does have a 'tude, but he's had to cover suck for years and it'd be hard to not be a little jaded and skeptical, especially if you're not a Buff and just a neutral observer.

Ringo is pretty far down my list of disliked Colorado sports reporters. Yes, he's bland and rarely insightful, but he doesn't manufacture controversy either. I'll take that over Kizla or Henderson any day. Honestly, the newspaper business is dying its own slow death. It must be depressing to go to work there everyday.

Ringo is tolerable. As mentioned, he's not half as awful as Hendo or Jizla. I think he's a little lazy, but otherwise, he's harmless.

Good point. I've been ignoring Kizla and Henderson for a long time.

It is pretty telling when a start up social media site like gobuffs.io has had 2 interviews in the past 2 days that are worth more than the content the DC has put out in the last month.

If Ringo wanted to know what a real sports journalist looks like, he should look at Wilner. There's a guy who does his research, knows the teams he's covering, and offers insightful and relevant commentary. And he does it without being a dick.

Ringo is a nice guy who reliably does his job. He's probably even a bit more knowledgeable about the team he covers than most locals. Phil Steele and others have utilized him for Buff previews.

In a lot of ways, we were spoiled by the Boulder Camera talent that has been there over the years. But the industry is changing, probably dying.

Also, a lot of the complaints about Ringo (and Howell) seem to be about headlines to their articles that piss people off. The columnists and reporters normally don't write the headlines. The issues at the Camera are with an ownership that's kind of assholish and an editorial staff that's anti-athletics.

I've been really disappointed in Kinsler. Media coverage of the Buffs and college sports in general in the Denver area sucks.

I think B.G. is way more negative than Kyle. I'm getting annoyed to the point of almost never watching his reports anymore.

You know BG is an employee of the Athletic Department, right? I find it hard to believe he's being overly negative.

The thing about Ringo is, his target demographic is not a bunch of people who constantly refresh message boards. It's relatively low information CU followers. It's why he gets the same 5 eye rollingly dumb questions every week.

My problem with him is that he rarely has answers for any other questions because he is intellectually incurious and lazy, and the questions he does know, he's a smug jerk about answering.

Kyle Ringo. The American Karl Pilkington.

OMG. You hit the nail on the head with that one. Rep coming your way, good sir.

Post article today was Dempsey's. I'm not even sure who their beat writer is.

Agree with this.

Personal experience is if you give him a tip, or story idea, or even a correction, he'll respond. He's going off what the athletic department provides him, and adds a few features now and then. But he's not out to harm CU in any way, as far as I've seen.

And I'd say to those who want to see real Kyle Ringo go? Be careful what you wish for. Having a beat writer assigned to cover a single university athletics program is a rarity these days.
We could get a permanent vacancy instead, or someone on a mission to embarrass the buffs. It could be worse.

Yeah we could end up with that Nebraska loving, Buff hater Sarah Kuta

I have never had an issue with Ringo, at least for the most part. Sometimes I wish he'd leave out the CU is in debt angle, bit that is the fan in me. Dude is doing his job. If there are positive stories and spin to write, he'll do it. Buffs just need to give him more opportunities.
