How does 2014 Finish (3 Possible Outlooks)...

Since football is 4 quarters and the Buffs season is through the first quarter, let’s look at possible scenarios for the last three quarters of our Buffs football team:

Best-case scenario (eternal optimist thinking of years past)
Hawaii-The Buffs get after the quarterback and look crisp on offense from start to finish. They don’t fall apart like they did against CSU in the last quarter and a half and don’t start slow like they did against UMass and Arizona State. The Buffs play four quarters and handle the Rainbow Warriors winning 38-14.
Cal-The Buffs show that they hired the right coach and Cal made the mistake by not hiring the guy much more local to them. The Buffs dominate Cal like they did last year and even up their series 4-4. Buffs 34-24.
Oregon State-Payback for running up the score and the Buffs playing just awful football. It was the game the led the coaches to start believing Sefo Liufau may need to see the field sooner than later after the Buffs looked completely inept. Oregon State doesn’t have enough weapons after losing two NFL receivers and Buffs give them their own medicine and win 41-20.
USC-Buffs bust the Trojans porous run defense but still can’t solve the speed differences and winning in SoCal. Buffs fight on valiantly but lose 34-27.
UCLA-Hundley is hurt again before this game and the Buffs are angry to have let an opportunity pass them by against USC. Still, Hundley ends up making the start and shows he is athletic against the Buffs and we have no chance. UCLA 41-24.
Washington-You stole our Dotson!!! After stealing the only RB recruit we had and angering the Buffs faithful, the Huskies come into Boulder after losing 3 of 4. Cyler Miles gets in trouble for drug possession while visiting his buddies in somewhere nowhere near Mullen since no one actually lives close to Mullen. Buffs end a 2-game losing streak by kicking the dog while it’s down. Boulder PETA protestors start to riot in the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] quarter when the Buffs are up 35-7. Game ends 49-17 Buffs and red paint gets thrown on the club level crowd and Champions Club group. Bowl bound!!!
Arizona-Rich Rodriguez fraud has been exposed already. After starting 5-1, the Wildcats get trounced by UCLA. There is no time to Bear Down for the pegging Ralphie gives the Wildcats as the Buffs take advantage of not having to face an athletic QB and a bruising Ka’deem Carey any longer. Buffs run shoulder to shoulder red rover style and win 31-17.
Oregon-The Buffs come with fire and it is quickly extinguished when Marcus Mariotta stamps his Heisman vote with a performance that Buffs fans scream, no more years as they watch in horror. Ducks 49-24.
Utah-Utah is at wits end. They have only beat Washington State in the Pac 12 and are looking to take down their “rivals” as a send off to Kyle Whittingham who was fired after another losing season. Buffs hear nothing of it and win 42-17 ending the regular season 8-4.

A tragic loss to CSU in the opener is erased with a team that turns the corner against ASU and starts clicking on all cylinders. Yes, there is an occasional 60 yard miscue that leaves fans upset but a dream season comes to a close and the Buffs go bowling in Vegas. Vegas baby! Vegas! We’re so money!

The Middle of the Road (Buffs fan today)
Hawaii-Buffs handle business and win 38-28.
Cal-Buffs squeak by in a very close win 38-37.
Oregon State-Beavers chomp away with more damn TD passes from Sean Mannion and Buffs lose 35-24.
USC-Embarrassed!!! 48-14.
UCLA-Embarassed!!! 48-20
Washington-Close fought but no win, 34-31 Huskies.
Arizona-A surprising win but a team the Buffs should have beat last year, 31-27 Buffs.
Oregon-No hope!!! 57-9
Utah-A hard fought win 28-24 Buffs and hope for next season.

The 5 Wins is an improvement and there is no doubt 2015 should see the Buffs bowling.

The Beatdown Buff Fan (Piss-imist)
Hawaii-Rainbow Warriors is the last hope and squeak out a disgusting win 34-31. We look like ****!!!
Cal-Can’t do **** on the road. Cal is better. Has recruited better. They are better. Boo hoo. Buffs suck. 38-14 Golden Showered by the Bears.
Oregon State-Is this 2013 all over? No offense, all Mannion and lose big to the Beavs! 41-10.
USC-They don’t even need scholarships and they recruit better than the Buffs EVER can. 48-7.
UCLA-Why show up?! Oh yeah, I like an excuse to drink. 49-10.
Washington-Huskies become Wolves and eat Ralphie V making my children cry. 38-17 Washington.
Arizona-Rich Rod’s high flying offense doesn’t even need fuel when we fill it with the **** methane running down our legs. 51-21 ‘Cats.
Oregon-Ducks fly together. The Ducks wear a new jersey that turns the Buffs white jerseys to brown and makes them wreak like the **** they have become. 74-0.
Utah-Utah needs a win to go bowling and easily does it against this joke of a group. Jay’s redshirt is burned since all the other QBs have quit and he starts but loses a hard fought game 31-28. The Buffs start to talk about another coaches son at QB. God save the Buffs!

I tend to be in the middle of the pack. I think the Buffs are going to show improvement but we are going to see some awful losses still and still have some work to do but I don't see us being like 2012 bad. We are improved over 2013 but it doesn't show much in the W-L column or point differential column just yet.

From day to day.... I think I cover about all three categories. I will give it further thought after the rainbows game.

We really need to win tomorrow.

I agree. After CSU and through most of UMass, all I could do was laugh to keep from crying. I am usually the optimist, but I have tempered my expectations to just approach every week like MacIntyre preaches, one game season and need to get to 1-0!

We definitely could use a shot of confidence and a bit of momentum.

nice post digger !

Should have been a pole -

I am somewhere between Middle of the Road and Best Case. Each week we learn a little more about our team, just like the young Buffs are learning about themselves to include the coaching staff.

Better?

So we could either be good, ok, or bad

That is the 3 outlooks in all scenarios. Just giving the possible ways I see it play out for each group from today. The eternal optimist, the **** throwing pessimist and the numb middle of the road guy that holds enough hope to see improvement

I'd put "middle of the road" with 4-8 or 5-7. Anything beyond that is dream season by 2014 standards. We ****ed ourselves losing to CSU.

I'd lower middle of the road to 3-4 wins - for the same reason as CVille - the CSU loss screwed any crazy hopes. This means I'd also put 5 wins as the bottom of the dream season, because that would've meant we would've been bowl eligible if we beat CSU.

Anyway, this means nothing. I just want to see CU continue to build on the last game and a half.

Yes. Don't go backwards. Young team, but they really are showing improvements in several positions. Keep progressing. The wins will come eventually.

I say we are going bowling this year. I'm going to believe that our team turned the corner in the 2nd quarter against Arizona State, until proven otherwise. Last week Folsom became a tough place to play again. So it starts today with Hawaii!

To go bowling, I think we will win against Hawaii, Oregon state, Washington, utah at home. Then we need to win at either Arizona or Cal. I say it's gonna happen. It will be close, but we will be there at 6 wins.

We really need to break through and win at least two PAC games, including one on the road.
