Winston just doesn't get it. He's costing himself a lot of money. He thinks he's bulletproof since there haven't been any real consequences for him, so he disregards all the blowback from the string of issues. But with the current climate in the NFL, he's making himself a difficult guy to draft. Certainly not a guy a franchise is going to be willing to risk 1st round money on.

If he stays in through next year and cleans up his act, he could change minds. But there's a ton of $ difference between high first round and second round. Maybe there will be some iron clad rider in it to protect the team...like UCLA did with Neuweasel.

Difficult to draft and even more difficult to endorse.

If he's a Heisman finalist again this year, he'll go first round regardless of what happens off of the field (short of a felony conviction). His biggest obstacle to that is probably himself and whether he can recognize it's not automatic.

edit: JR has a point about endorsements, though.

I wouldn't count on a first round pick for him.

He is winning huge which makes a big impression but is a team going to hang it's future on him.

Winston despite his success still plays like a great athlete playing QB. Every time that RGIII gets hurt and misses more games it makes teams hesitate a little more to take a guy like Winston. we have already seen plenty of great athlete winners fail at the position in recent times in the NFL. Tebow, Jamarcus Russell, etc. In the NFL being a great runner isn't enough, being a great runner with a cannon arm isn't enough. You have to be able to read defenses, make decisions, and let your teammates take the hits.

Nothing indicates that Winston has the mental game of a Russell Wilson who is an athlete as well but is a QB first. Does he have the mental game of a Kapernick who is also a QB who is athletic, I don't think so.

All it takes to be a first round choice is to get one team to fall in love with you (see Tebow) but every time that Winston does something that draws negative attention to himself and brings his maturity and decision making into question he makes it harder for some team to decide that he is "the guy."
 
This is ridiculous. This is just a funny internet meme that has blown up over the last 2 months all around the world, and is everywhere. I hear about a new case of someone yelling this on the news every day, and it's pretty hilarious. Getting suspended for just saying this in public? Weak. **** the NCAA and PC fsu athletic department right in the pussy.

FSU is in the midst of a federally-mandated Title IX investigation relating to Winston's alleged rape of another student. You think they should find it funny if he gets recorded making lewd and disrespectful comments toward women because he it was an internet meme? His only crime here may be idiocy, but you can't laugh it off.

Yup, this isn't their decision, instead they're totally reacting to public opinion and social media. This is just like what the Vikings and the Carolina Panthers did and both of those situations were also handled very poorly by those respective organizations.
 
Aside from reacting to public pressure, another area that FSU screwed up in was with Gameday in town and Jimbo was already scheduled to appear on the show, but after they decided to suspend him for the whole game Jimbo backed out on his commitment. Also, the FSU AD refused an invitation this morning to appear on the show.

And it seems no one spoke with Winston on the details of this suspension cause he came out pregame in full uniform. He just doesn't get it,and never will at that place.
