Article from that Artesia game:

Gordon pointed to his teammates, crediting his offensive line and coaches with his success. But the fact of the matter is he was a one-man wrecking crew, breaking as many as seven tackles on a single run, employing a vicious spin move to shed defenders.

After the Artesia game, Gordon received calls from UCLA, Colorado, and Wyoming, among others. Finally, Monday night, he got his first scholarship offer, from San Jose State...

At 6-feet tall and 200 pounds, Gordon is a physical runner — but he’s been clocked at a 4.4 in the 40 and 10.9 in the 100, meaning he’s speedy as well.

Article on Gordon bursting onto the scene and why no one had heard of him before his senior year:

“Right now, I think he’s the best running back in the Moore League, if not the state,” Coach Lyn Perryman said. “That’s not just what I think, it’s what other coaches have said to me after seeing him.

Gordon grew up in New Orleans and played middle school ball as a ninth-grader. His grandmother’s illness led the family to move from Louisiana to Long Beach the following summer.

“I started at Jordan but the paperwork was slow and delayed,” Gordon said, so he missed his entire sophomore season of football. When Thomas Barnes and Jordan parted ways after 2012, Gordon chose to transfer to Millikan when Barnes was hired as an assistant by Perryman.

He sat out the first half of the 2013 season per CIF-SS transfer rules. He made an auspicious debut, rushing for 154 yards and two touchdowns on a mere three carries. He had 100-plus-yard games two more times.

That's the background stuff.

I spent some time watching the film and came away extremely impressed. Downhill runner who gets up to speed quickly, presents angles to defenders and shows great balance + footwork through traffic. Shows good speed. Finishes runs.

Of all the RBs this cycle that the Buffs have targeted, this was my favorite film. Afraid his recruiting will absolutely blow up with the blue bloods lining up for him. Hope not, because this would be an absolute steal if the Buffs could land him.

Dude has the potential to be a rockstar. Already being compared to legendary ED, which may be a bit much, but still, he would be a great get for this class. He should be in a BUFFS uni.

Holy crap. Kid piles up 6 TDs and 335 yards, and he is also playing DB in that tape!

Beast!

Not bad film. Not great either. Hold off a bit on punching his ticket to the Hall of Fame.

To me it seems like he's much better at finding holes than any running back we have right now. I love his vision and fluidity as a runner.

He loves that spin move, and really looks like a player. Can we hide him and never talk about him until February?

Yeah, well I don't think that spin move is going to be so impressive at the next level, but a great combination of size and speed.

He's been in contact with DeShaun Foster (running back coach at UCLA).
The order of contact has been SJSU,UTEP,CU, and now UCLA.

Adams is our main recruiter.

The herd would have gotten faster indeed.

If he can lose that false step at the snap, he'll get so much better in a hurry.

That's just coaching and reps, though. No reason that doesn't get fixed even before he gets to CU if he's focusing on it.
