Unusually solid night of football for a Friday.

1. Louisville (4-1, 2-1) @ Syracuse (2-2, 0-0) at 5pm MT on ESPN.

Louisville favored by 3.

2. San Diego State (2-2, 1-0) @ Fresno State (2-3, 1-0) at 8pm MT on CBSSN.

Fresno favored by 3.

3. Utah State (2-2) @ #18 BYU (4-0) at 8:15pm MT on ESPN.

BYU favored by 21.

It wouldn't shock me if Utah State pulled the upset tonight.

Also, if none of those game interest you, the team/spirit squads/band will be down on pearl at 7pm.

Friday night is for high school football. Thursday night is for college. Monday night is for NFL. it's not that hard.

Touchdown 'Cuse.

I'm rooting for them. Looking at things historically, it seems like CU and Syracuse have their ups and downs on the same cycles. Pretty equivalent programs, too.

Actually it was a FG

I'm not sure 'Cuse ever fully recovers. I miss the Big East days when they'd duel with VT and Miami. May still be proven wrong (presumably will now that I say this), but Louisville was only favored by like 2. Seemed low.

There's enough talent in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania for them to be good. Being great is harder. But probably a big reason, beyond money, why they wanted the ACC exposure to the mid-atlantic and Florida.

Terrel Hunt's just not a very good QB. The days of Pasqualoni are gone but their IPF is scheduled to be completed on Dec. 1st and being in the ACC should help recruiting by getting them into the mid-Atlantic and Florida.

Flip side for Cuse is recruiting against Rutgers just got even more difficult. Not a coincidence Rutgers has been doing well while Cuse has struggled, IMO.

For sure.

And the tipping point that helped Rutgers break through and 'Cuse go in the crapper was when 'Cuse switched coaches, causing Ray Rice to de-commit and sign with Rutgers.

Rally time Cardinals!

I used to kind of like Syracuse but we now have so many dolt local sportstalk host from there that I prefer they suck.

Syracuse is doing their very best to lose this one. Before the half they get down to the 2 yard line but don't score due to clock mismanagement. Start the third quarter and they get down to the 1 on a lone 3rd down pass completion. They follow that up with a blown play, penalties, etc. moving them well back. They then run a perfect reverse WR pass except that the receiver in the end zone flat dropped an easy pass that would have been the TD. Twice inside the 3 yard line and a total of 3 points from it.

Utah St. giving BYU everything they want in the second quarter.

BYU QB Taysom Hill taken off on the cart. Utah State scores the last 21 points of the half for a 28-14 lead.

Utah State playing without their regular starter but their freshman backup is playing lights out including dropping a bomb perfectly into his WRs hands for a long TD a couple plays after a BYU punt forced by a false start penalty on 4th and very short.

Tayson Hill injury is a broken leg. Sucks. He was fun to watch.

Utah State is on the edge of putting them away now.

Sucks about Hill, he's a good football player. Honestly, Utah St was out playing them when he was playing I thought. That probably sealed it with Hill's injury though.

Agree with you. Would have been much harder but Utah State was playing to win that game and had BYU reeling.

I know a lot of people here want the CSU game moved out of the first game slot but this game shows that isn't necessarily a solution. This game was almost mid-season but Utah State was playing with the same kind of emotion and drive that the sheep bring for us. Utah is a college football state since they have no pro sports other than the Jazz and the MLS. Even then Utah State gets ignored in the shadow of BYU and the Utes.

BYU easily had more talent, even after the injuries but Utah State showed that they had some talent too, and that they could play.

Interestingly enough in all the talk about Hill most people seeing the score won't know that USU did it using their back-up QB as well who played lights out. He just killed BYU with the long ball.

Except for the first drive, USU outplayed BYU with Hill or without Hill. In an effort to push BYU further into the national conversation, Bronco M had trash talked USU and Utah in a PC with the sound bite playing over and over this week on the local media. Looks like players on both teams listened. BYU fans called it a cupcake game, and a non-rivalry. I love crow served ice cold. Hill's injury is sad because he is a genuinely good kid and a great athlete. But quarterbacks who run like fullbacks get hurt and coaches that promote that style of play had better have a stable of good QB's.

Go Buffs. I hope the great football week continues with a victory today. Sefo or Hill with his Heisman mentions? Sefo every time. His upside is huge, as is CU's.
