Rust

I want to state first that I am extremely impressed with the improvements Rick George and Co are making to the stadium, but I think that some attention to paint and rust (or as Dan Hawkins might have said, the "little things") might also be in order, to wit:

The condition of that sign has irked me for some time.

Another example:

And another:

And some paint for the row numbers would be most welcome:

Haven't been to Folsom for a few years now and that is just embarrassing.

Yikes. Really gotten a lot worse over the last few years. No reason they can't replace signs once every 30 years

Uh...when we start getting some wins and endearing the team to the alumni again (I'm an alumnus and while I support them week in week out, it's hard to be proud enough to want to write checks and rally support), we can do things like beautify signs that might need replacing and such. Make no mistake, we have maybe the most beautiful stadium environment in college football on account of a nice stadium, mild weather, and beautiful backdrop, who gives a damn about a little rust. ....although if anyone knows of some contenders, I'd be interested in seeing pictures.

Dude, I don't see what one has to do with the other. It's just basic maintenance. It's not like I am calling for them to replace the trough urinals in the men's rooms or something (I actually think that they add character and impart a historical esthetic). Anyway, it is s small issue, and is irksome at best, but I did send the photographs to Rick George to consider as he pleases.

Dude, painting a sign isn't exactly a costly endeavor. My own Buff Club donation can fund that, and my name isn't Boedecker.

Send RG a email. I'm sure he knows about it, but it can't hurt. I'm sure it is something that is being worked on, but the AD has been crazy since he's been hired. I was talking to a friend at the game today at how big of a hill RG has to climb with the lack of investments in facilities under Bohn.

Yeah I dunno, I guess it just doesn't bother me enough to make a fuss about, but I can see how it might be annoying.

Done.

tsarbomba,

It bothers me, too. Folsom needs a complete remodel beyond just what's happening in the NE corner. Balch should be condemned and the rest of the place (signage, bleachers, bathrooms, etc.) look like basic maintenance & upkeep hasn't been performed in 15-20 years.

And I will be interested in the response. Bohn always took the time to personally respond when I emailed him. Maybe that was the problem. It is rarely worth the time to give me the time of day, much less respond to an email from me.

Are bleachers still collapsing in the student section? Or are the 3 students who stand on them at games these days not enough to find out?

I think RG has been good at doing the same, I know he has for ticket situations.

Need to hit you with rep when I can.

The response to my email:

Mr [Tsarbomba]:

Thank you for the email. I will ask our staff to address this. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

Rick

It's awesome that you got such a quick response. However, it concerns me that those obvious eyesores (I've noticed them for years) had to be brought to his attention. I would've thought that he did some thorough inspections of Folsom prior to fundraising for the expansions.

Yes. One broke yesterday behind me when students were jumping up and down at the end of the game when we were on defense. The end of the bleacher just bent down.

How do you take a picture of a smell?

Actually the troughs in the restrooms don't bother me. They are easy to hit and can handle a lot of traffic at once. They have a certain amount of old style and tradition to them.

On the other hand a lot of things just give a sense of disrepair. The rust is one of those things, Replace some signs, sandblast and put down some new paint.

They also have the walls built around the concourse that prevent people from seeing the field unless they are in the seating area. I understand that this is done to keep traffic moving but they put up shabby, temporary partitions that have since been left in place and they just look bad.

Rep bounty for more Folsom candid shots.

Looking for shots of Folsom restroom facilities that don't break any decency laws or violate anybody's personal space.
bonus for the infamous women and Mens facilities over by the visitors section in Balch.

Also looking for press box pictures.
