Arielle out for season (ACL)

That is a big bummer. She was a consistent force for the Buffs and I believe she has already used up a redshirt year with back issues. I wish her well during her recovery process. She will be deeply missed this year.

I have no idea whether, based on her education/ life goals, she'd want to stay at CU that long anyway, but I know I've heard of other sports where, ONLY when due to injury, players have been awarded a 6th year of eligibility/ 2nd redshirt year. Assume that's true of basketball?

But, anyway, best wishes to Ms. Roberson, and hope your recovery is swift, and the injury doesn't make the rest of your life too difficult.

Oh dear! So sad for her and a definite blow to the team. It will be interesting to see if anyone(s) can step up. Best wishes to her for successful surgery and rehab. I hope she will fully recover and come back stronger and hungrier for having lost this season.

Arielle was such a vital part of the team last year. This is terrible. I do hope she returns next year stronger and ready for some hoops. This does provide an opportunity for others to step up. Somebody has to. Arielle was the leading scorer and rebounder last year.

Yes, if she wants to come back for a 6th year, players can usually get a medical redshirt, especially since she didn't play in a single game her freshman year and won't this season.

Noooooooooo! She was going to be a huge, huuuuuuuge piece of the puzzle this year. Talking NCAA tournament. This is where Linda's going to earn her pay in lineup changes. Hope we can find something that will win games.

Regarding the possibility of a medical hardship waiver from the NCAA, Arielle is a textbook case. On her 5-year clock, she already lost 1 year due to the back injury. She's now missing another year due to injury. When that's the case, the NCAA awards an extra year on the clock to give the athlete 4 healthy years with an opportunity to compete as a college athlete.

Hopefully she decides to grab a grad degree and compete for a title, so we'll get 2 more years to see her play.

Well shoot! Real sorry for this young lady and a bummer for the team. They will have to overcome. Karma to Arielle!

Sad for her. You know she had big plans. Was lookin Buff too (nyuk nyuk).
Anyone know how Zoe is developing? Arielle ended up playing such a hybrid Center role last year, even with Hargis in the game, but if Zoe could become a true center as a frosh (or Bri?), it would at least allow Jamee to be in the same role, where she was really dominant the end of the season.

I had recently e-mailed a friend about the team and mentioned that this would be the first season for Arielle in Boulder without off-season surgery. Boy what a bummer for her and the team. She is a difference maker.

Without her this season I would guess that sophomore Haley Smith will have a shot at starting as she really came on at the end of last season. But the one player who I feel really has to step up for the team is Jamee Swan. She has a huge amount of potential but isn't consistent. There are games where she commits silly fouls and has to sit. And other times she is a bit timid on offense. But when she puts her mind to it she's deadly on offense and an intimidator defensively. Ideally she would play the '4' but without a proven center and Arielle she may start the season at the '5'.

Oh yeah, Haley Smith definitely showed some strong stretches. Jamee could definitely be all-P12. She dominates a game when she wants to (@ AZ last year). I hope she can stay at the 4...

This. Hoping for a full recovery.
