Coach Mac is NOT my first choice but lets look at ewhat he can bring... He comes from a family with college coaching exp. He played college ball. He was apart of SEC school and went to school in the region (can relate to recuits down there) was a NFL coach can tell kids what its like what they need to do to get there (connections still in NFL?) Was Asst coach of the year at Duke (an academic school on par with Cal Stanford ect) won that award over EVERY Pac12 and SEC coach. Turned around a SJSU program that should have stopped football years ago. To get ANY atheletes there with NO tradition NO legacy NO academic record is amazing in its self! Thats all on him. He totally turned around SJ footballs academics (something Sandy says Cal needs to do) His players talent isnt even top 5 in the WAC yet they are third... CAL has top 5 talent but we well you know... An article in the mercury said it best "even if he ends up staying at SJSU this year if he keeps this program going in the right direction. SJSU wouldnt be able to keep him around forever

What's crazy to me was he was a defensive coordinator five years after graduating college.

I always support our coaches until I can't.

But FLounder, you need to pump the brakes a bit on MacIntyre. I'm glad you're excited and believe in what's going on. Nothing at all wrong with that. However, until he wins there is no reason to go over the top with the support.

P.S. If you're going to be spending time on his Wikipedia page, please update the photo to a shot from this season. I hate seeing the chubby SJSU pic whenever I go there. I created an account, but couldn't figure out how to edit it or I'd do it myself.

Why pump the brakes? Why not just enjoy the ride and let uniformitarianism run its course.

Fine. Roll with it, man. You should be drunk and having fun with this stuff. You only get to be young, dumb and full of cum for a brief time in your life. Keep that positive excitement. Ignore my previous post (except for the wiki editing thing - that needs to get done and I'll make sure the Junta admins give a rep bonus to whomever handles it).

He's accomplished a lot in two years, but he recruits basically last in conference. If that doesn't change he will be fired for lack of results on the field at some point. CU will then hire a coach with a name. He's a nice guy though, I like him.

Ever think if reasons for this recruiting?

He's recruiting for the future.
All of these lineman will produce a very solid OL and DL in 2017 and 2018.

The OL and DL require older players.
While the athlete positions can be freshman.
He can recruit with the best of then.
He'll he was Patrick Willis main recruiter.

Someone posted a graph correlating recruiting ranking to team ranking. We were in the 50 range in recruiting and, obviously, not ranked well. But, unless I misread, teams like Baylor and KState were in the same recruiting range as us. I'm not thrilled with our recruiting, but you can win with really good coaching. And Mac is going to have to do that before recruiting improves. I feel very good about Mac.

In flounder's case, only 1 of the 3 states above are guaranteed to be for only a brief time in his life.

The team has improved. unfortunately moving the needle up still leaves us last in the PAC in results and recruiting.

I think Mac is the guy. The team improved last year (he won the games he should) but we were still outclassed in the PAC. I think this shows just how bare the cupboards were and sometimes I think folks lose that perspective.

I'd like to see better recruiting, but the team I see on the field could easily be 4-2. Think about that...we were arguably the worst P5 team in 2012 and now we are competing every game and if a few breaks had gone our way, we'd be 2 games away from bowl eligibility.

The team still has to make their breakthrough and we'll see about recruiting improvement, but what Mac has done is pretty amazing thus far. If the past is a predictor of future, I am looking for good times to be rolling in Boulder soon.
