Idiotic coaching

Calling your last timeout with 1 min left in half after getting a first down? You knew that drive was going to end in hilariously stupid fashion after that incompetent clock management... and then the clown college last play, that was something I would expect CSU to do. With Sefo obviously confused, the coaching staff should have been signaling frantically for a spike when he was looking over there, not just standing there going durrrrrr... no wonder this coaching staff can't win any games with that kind of brain power haha.

Over/Under on how many posts that start with "we were so close and might have won if not for that bad break at end of first half. this was another moral victory loss for us! hurray!" will be created after we lose this game?

I agree that the end of the 1st half was a complete and total cluster****. The first timeout of the 1/2 was totally unnecessary too. We need to somehow overcome these mistakes and win this game. It's not over, but we need a stop and then a score.

Did you watch the game?

The coaches were yelling for Sefo to spike the ball with about 20 seconds left. MacIntyre was out on the field signaling to spike the ball. Sefo looked at the coaches TWICE and still didn't spike the ball.

You were not watching that final play. Mac and the RB next to Sefo were signaling spike. Sefo was in panic and lost the possession.

macintyre took blame. everyone thought goodson was out of bounds. Sefo is one that choked and didn't pay attention.

Have they changed the rules on how the clock runs? The play before that the receiver went out of bounds. I thought that stopped the clock. But, they started running it again. That was part of the confusion.

Similarly, the clock continued to run twice in the final 4th quarter drive as well, despite getting out of bounds.

Doesn't matter if he was or not. Only matters that the clock continued and Sefo didn't notice. Don't be a Sefo apologist.
I'm not being an apologist, I'm saying the refs ****ed it up because DD went straight out of bounds. Mental lapse by Sefo (there I go being an apologist again!)

he was out of bounds

We don't like it but the refs called it right.

DD had his momentum fully stopped in the field of play. He did go out of bounds but after his momentum had been fully stopped, the defenders were stopping aggression as DD had given up on advancing the ball then backed out of bounds.

The linesman immediately pointed to the spot at the point of forward advancement and rotated his arm indicating run the clock.

Sefo should have had better awareness. The RB was aware of what was going on and was yelling and gesturing to Sefo, He probably should have stepped to him and grabbed him to get his attention.

That was entirely on the Buffs, and a lot of it on Sefo.

Did the whistle blow? No? Doesn't matter. It happened right, I mean right, in front of me.

His forward progress was stopped in the field of play, and so he was ruled down in the field of play.

It really doesn't matter why the clock was running or anything else. Sefo could have and should have seen what everyone was telling him to do and spike the ball. It's on him and no one else.

Now, I'm not in the mode of cracking on players, so that's all I'm going to say on the matter.

If the whistle is not blown it does not matter, the play ends on the whistle.

you don't know what you are talking about. of course the play ends when the whistle blows. but when you catch the ball and are driven back, they are going to call you down by forward progress in the field of play and keep the clock running, every time. Thats the rule.

The play is blown dead by the whistle. If forward progress is stopped their will be a whistle, but the play is not over until the whistle is blown. The start of the play is blown by a whistle from the white hat, it's the same to end it. If DD's forward progress was stopped the ref should have blown the whistle, but since he didn't the play is still live.

Wishing the rule was different doesn't make it so. The play is dead when the official determines forward progress is stopped. You not hearing a whistle doesn't change that in any way.

Well **** why even have whistles if the refs can arbitrarily stop and start a play as they feel

Wrong. His forward progress was stopped. He made a first down, therefore the stopped clock signal was made. The official then signaled that the clock would start as soon as the ball was placed down.

I thought that DD had gotten out of bounds and was surprised when I notice that the game clock was down under 10 seconds.

But it's not my job to notice that.

Coaches ****ed up there. Either because they didn't notice, didn't properly prep Sefo, didn't properly communicate with Sefo, or were unable to come up with a play in over 20 seconds. Post-game, Sefo said something about that offsides being unfortunate. I don't think he understands yet what happened. There was only 1 second left in the half when the guy jumped.

The coaches DID notice!! They were on the sideline SCREAMING for Sefo to spike the ball. MacIntyre was out on the field, jumping up and down, motioning with his hand for Sefo to just spike the ball. He was doing this when there was about 20 seconds left. Sefo looked over at the coaches TWICE and still went full retard.

The QB ****ed up. There is no other way to say it.

Coaches looked like they did about all they could without a timeout, they were screaming for Sefo to spike the ball. I wondered at the time if Nembot jumped back without knowing the run off rule in an attempt to save the time.
