This is a huge week.

If the Buffs can be 3-0 with wins over Drexel, Auburn and at Wyoming it's going to be a very strong early season resume. After that, it should be banking wins against AFA and Lipscomb to close out the month.

If we take care of Auburn and Wyoming (big "if" for Laramie), it should do it for getting in the AP. Utah, SMU and others have some potential losses coming up.

Laramie is going to be a tough game. Even though Larry Nance JR blew his knee like the mayor did last year, he came back and dropped 20/8 on UNC (Bears) this weekend.

If CU's gonna jump into the top 25, we need some teams at the bottom to start losing or winning close to bad teams.

SMU getting absolutely destroyed last night on national TV helps. The fact that it was a road game to a top 15 team that tipped at 11:00 PM ET hurts. It was not as close as the final score indicates.

Cal's got a good chance to help CU twice by knocking off Syracuse in that they're 23 AND it would boost Pac12 RPI.

Good chance #25 Utah takes a loss tonight as well to #16 SDSU. #20 Ohio State faces Marquette, but Marquette is pretty down.

If we can win in Laramie, things should work themselves out by week's end since we're already 27. Coaches poll will take longer with us 36.

For our purposes, the AP poll is the only one that matters right now. It is the one ESPN uses for their top 25. That is the exposure we need this year. Gotta take care of the pokes.

With the majority of the media being east of the big muddy creek, chances are very few saw the zags/smu game. Those folks will see the score and perhaps selected highlights only. Chances are that smu will probably drop farther in the rankings than they should.

Neither #25 Utah nor #16 SDSU looked top 25 if we're being honest. Horrible game. Horrible stats.

Utah won't be punished much for a close 53-49 loss on the road, but they'll drop out. We'll move ahead of them in the pecking order if we win at Wyoming.

#19 Michigan State falls 81-71 to #4 Duke in Indianapolis. Not sure how much you can drop them for that, though.

Should we just give the title to Kentucky now? Holy ****! How many of these guys will go pro at the end of the year?

But, you know what, Kansas is hanging in there.

Honestly. They could have 10 players selected in the first round.

Hah! Obvious your "Senior citizenship" went to bed at half time! KU-UK wasn't even as close as the 72-40 final score might indicate.

KU looked panicked too many times in the second half. A young and not very good KU team, IMHO. And Self had no answers for anything UK tried. Wrong game not to have a Frankamp-type on the floor. No one is going to pound it inside on UK with any success.

I actually edited that in after I wrote the first sentence but then Kansas kind of made a little run at the end of the half, a la Auburn. I switched the channel early in the second half without further amending my original post.

#13 Gonzaga 94-42 over St. Joseph's. It's early, but this may be Gonzaga's best team yet…they are due for a run in March.

Zags @ Arizona and @ UCLA in a couple weeks. Can't wait.

That final score is deceptive. It was like 48-10 at halftime. Zags are good.
