I don't understand the Sefo hate... at all

As far as I can tell, Sefo is the best CU quarterback in a long time. Is he going to win a Heisman? No, but he's got a shot at being a very good Pac-12 QB and possibly even playing on Sundays. He's got to develop a little more, but he's got great leadership skills, a prototypical QB body and he's literally re-writing the record books at CU. He's nearly a lock to set schools records for passing yards, TDs and completion percentage (he's currently CU's all time leader among QBs with more than 250 attempts.)

Despite the fact that he's put points on the board and kept us competitive with teams that should have blown us out all while bleeding black and gold... he still deals with an ungodly amount of crap from grizzled old Buffs fans.

Yeah, he's thrown some picks... he literally shouldn't even be out there. If everything had gone according to play then Connor Wood would be finishing up his senior season and Sefo (a RS-Freshman) would be taking over the reins in Spring ball. He's played behind a patchwork offensive line with no tight end for a season and a half and he's still been extremely productive. Let's just appreciate the fact that it could be worse. We could have Jordan Webb, Connor Wood, Nick Hirschman, or Cody Hawkins back there...

Where's the hate you're talking about? You called him a legitimate Pac 12 star which is f**king crazy. You may interpret it as hate, but I just see people who think that statement is nuts.

The hate is strange. He's one of the best players on one of the worst college football teams in the country. A bright spot in my mind. I think the doubters don't like his mistakes that have contributed to our losses.

He's literally rewriting the CU record books? Maybe that's his problem. Less time on that, more film study imo

The turnover criticism is fair. The fact that people don't realize he has been on a college campus for all of 16 months, radically improved from his freshman to sophomore years, and is playing with less talent around him than any other QB in the Pac 12 when evaluating him is a bit odd.

Most important player on a 2-9 team which might go winless in conference and you do not understand why he is drawing criticism?

We lose and he loses in this argument because its all on his shoulders to win the game. He's probably the best player on the field by long shot. But It's still a team sport. Until we have better piece to play with he's gonna get **** for not winning the game.

Maybe you should watch the games before you respond

He is not the best player on the field by a longshot, at least not right now. Those are the types of statements that bring out the haters. Hell, skinsfan called him a "star" last night.

He is by no means a star but his position is gonna draw criticism, nature of being a qb. Too much praise, too much blame. Nobody is above criticism or you see what's going on with the Redskins right now, accountability is something we don't see enough. I'm not saying Sefo doesn't have that, he does. Let's see how he does this week and over the off-season.

The criticism is warranted imho. I don't have a doubt Sefo will bust his ass to get better, he has character. If he's gonna take another step, I'm sure he gets he has to put the work in.

I'm not sure how one could see him play and not come to the conclusion that he's a star player. He's the reason our offense is as good as it has been. Sure, we're in the middle of a rebuilding process. We're not winning a lot of games, but Sefo is a bright spot on the team. We're not losing because of him. What more could a rebuilding team like CU want than a guy who is respected in the locker room, was voted team captain, has top shelf leadership skills, has high character... oh yeah, and could quite possibly end the season with 3,000 yards and 30 TD's. (He's at 2,883 and 27 right now.)

Yeah, he's a Sophomore QB from a smaller HS who was thrust into the spotlight before he was really ready. He's going to throw some picks... but he's completing over 65% of his passes. He's the future of Colorado Buffaloes Football.

As... he literally shouldn't even be out there. If everything had gone according to play then Connor Wood would be finishing up his senior season and Sefo (a RS-Freshman) would be taking over the reins in Spring ball.

I agree. Strong programs give their players time to get ready to play, to understand the speed of the college game and the support to play well. Throwing in a ton of freshmen a couple years back and pushing upperclassmen out of the program is going to resound with us for several more years.

Hang in there, Sefo.

White Knight gonna White Knight

Of course his Sefo's turnovers were a factor in several close games. To ignore that aspect of his game undermines the rest of your analysis.

I'd say that most are able to separate the player from his behaviors. We love Sefo for his character, passion, and hard work. His production speaks for itself. We hate that he throws interceptions more than a P12 quarterback should.

In football, the best player should see the field. If Sefo gets benched by a less turnover prone QB with similar production, then CU will only be that much better.

It's crazy to simply crown anybody the future QB without actually opening up competition and then letting the chips fall where they may.

If Sefo should earn the starting position in 2015, he will be measured against improving upon this season's record with an obvious focus on ball control and victories.

His turnovers cost us more than one game. Yes he had some help in other areas but they were backbreaking turnovers that stars don't make, just saying. We are rooting for him, it's not like anybody giving a little bit of criticism is hoping he'll fail. He has to get better and the only way to do that is work.

Best player on worst team in the Pac. Tallest midget.

Honest question, what other teams in the Pac does Sefo start for?

Loaded question since you'd be asking for him to start over NFL QBs or Senior starters

No, when someone says he a legitimate Pac 12 star now, then it's a fair question and Skinsfan isn't going to like the answer.

These threads are terrible because by anointing him the way Skinsfan did, it leads to people who disagree pointing out deficiencies about Sefo which sucks for the kid.

I assumed the post was an open Question. Sefo isn't a star in the Pac 12

I want to believe Sefo can be a star eventually. End of the day, he has to put in the work. The really great players work very hard, they don't get by on talent alone. How far will film, lifting, throwing a ton, etc, there is a lot, get him? Idk, I don't doubt he's gonna bust his ass trying to maximize what he is. Sefo has some swag. Rooting for him.

That's the thing, I don't think it's hate. It's people just sick and tired of being sick and tired. Whatever needs to be done with him and the rest of the team is overdue. Quit talking about the **** and get it done. As far as Sefo, he seems like a really good kid and player, he has some things to fix, God forbid grow as a player. I think he has the makeup to do it. Go to work.

Suppose I am looking for something to garner a bit of optimism about, but yesterday it just seemed Sefo was being more thoughtful in where the ball was thrown. It is a fine balance at this level of college football, but against some stout defensive players, Sefo made a positive step (focus on release) on a few possessions. Next week is important for him and the team, to continue getting better.

Also wondering with the success of Lee, if just maybe little brother and him might decide to work together. Kinda how the bad teams have turned it around in the past...
