Do our RBs like contact too much?

When I was watching the game it seems like Lindsay and Pow had openings if they made a cut and would have brought on 5 or more yards. Instead I saw a the both of them lowering their shoulder and going for contact.

Is anyone else noticing that as well? Tj bounces it when he can, but he seems suited for a screen and not running it between the tackles so much.
 
Tough to say with a different angle than the players see. I remember reading about the drones Miami uses in practice and their QB coach saying that he thought Kaaya made rhe wrong read but the drone showed he made the right one.
 
All of our running backs seem to go down at first contact, especially Powell. I hope we get guys that can see the field and lanes better because, outside of Lindsay at times, we are very bad as a running back corps.
 
WRT to the OP - YES!!! Damn it. There was one play Lindsay broke a few tackles at the LOS and if he would have run straight, he'd have gained 5 more yards min. Instead, he cut right, squared up his shoulders to the sideline and ran directly at a Duck defender. I just about lost my Gawdamn mind!

This. He started out the year not looking very good (not including the fumbles). He looked "spazzed" out and unfocused. He has really made great strides this year and is looking like a gamer.
 
Lindsay is just one of those guys, he'd rather run over you than around you. He's Mighty Mouse. Yeah the not good in space point is a good one.
 
They just need more opportunities downfield. Think they are used to expecting contact and fight for a yard or two.

I'm not hating at all, I love the aggressiveness. At his size, his body won't be able to take it for the long haul. He needs to learn when to try and put his head down to get extra yards and when not to. He'll get there at some point, doesn't make you a coward to juke guys every now and again.

If we could get RB that made people miss and were good in the open field they would be high 3* and 4* players.

I'm told we can't have nice things.

Thought the balance was better this week. 32 passes to 30 runs in a losing effort. Didn't get pass happy even when Sefo came into the game. Thought our running game looked good, but too many drives were killed due to the inability to throw the ball to convert first downs. The run/pass ratio hasn't been good this year, but hopefully that is coming back to earth.

Powell is not a shifty runner but a power back usually just one cut through the hole. Lindsay makes the cuts to the hole very well and cuts back well....I really like his running style. He anticipates the hole and cuts and accelerates through the hole. TJ hesitates too much to ram it up through the hole which is why he bounces to the outside so much. I did not see where either had space to cut for big yardage. Changing direction on a dime is not easy when you are going full speed. No complaints from me on either Powell of Lindsay on their running.

Did you see the play where Lindsay had a one on one with a defender in the second half? If he makes one juke, he glides in for a 50+ yard touchdown. That would have been a touchdown with any other Pac 12 running back in my opinion.
