I wasn't sold on Villanova this year. They're better than I thought. Just dismantled VCU.

Strange quirk in the schedule allows Miami and UNCC to play twice in 3 days. They ended up meeting in the Final of the Charleston Classic on Sunday night and then had a scheduled game for tonight.

SMU falls to #25 Arkansas. SMU now only 2-3. They're playing tough teams in an attempt to not get screwed by the committee again, but they aren't beating any of these teams.

Maryland taking it to #13 Iowa State in Kansas City. That's basically a road game for the Terps. Impressive performance.

64-51 with a little over 3 minutes left.

Great for Turgeon, too. I root for Tad's BFF.

Game of the day on right now.

#12 Villanova vs #19 Michigan in Brooklyn.

47-41 Michigan with just under 8 minutes left.

Losing Emmanuel Mudiay really hurt them.

#5 North Carolina tipping off with Butler on ESPN2 right now. This will be my first look at both these teams this season. Will be a good one if Butler shoots well, I think.

Butler is pretty solid, what else is new. They have some offense now and are boarding like a mother****er. They always play good D.

If they win this, the Big East is making a push to be the #1 conference.

Of the 10 teams, Marquette is the only one with a loss so far this year. And even if they're struggling a bit, we know Marquette doesn't suck.

But we do know DePaul does.

Anyway, Go Butler!

Butler finished off #5 North Carolina, 74-66. I had suspected UNC may be the weak link in the ACC "Big 4". No shame in losing to Butler, but we'll see. I believe UNC faces loser of UCLA/Oklahoma next, which won't be easy either.

Freaking Butler is physical. I missed the end cause I had to get the rest of my groceries. Glad they held on.

St. John's and Minnesota going at it, close so far. This dude for St. John's is wearing some John Stockonish shorts lol. Haven't seen that in a long ass time.

Big East continues to roll, as Georgetown takes down #18 Florida in OT.

Deep conference, no doubt. My questions are other than Nova, who else will sustain being ranked and "national" programs? Additionally, Seton Hall and Marquette remain mysteries. We know DePaul is the bottom.

Definitely a question.

Nova looks like a legit Top 10 this year.

Creighton is likely a season-long Top 25.

After that you've got Xavier, Butler, Georgetown, St. John's and Providence that could all be there (probably in that order). I also think Marquette will come around while Seton Hall falls off and DePaul finishes at the bottom.

6 teams in the Dance looks like a pretty safe bet this year. 7 wouldn't be crazy, though.

I believe Creighton was picked 9th in the preseason Big East coaches poll. I certainly think they're better than that. However, I need to see more than one solid home half against Oklahoma (comeback for a 2 point win) to know if they're good enough to hold a ranking.

UCLA's bench has only attempted one shot (and hit it). NC's has 20 points. The Buffs depth is going to win some games this year. If you count Eli, we have 11 guys in the rotation.

Ole Miss defeats #23 Creighton 75-68 on a neutral court.

I think people may have gotten carried away with Creighton's one solid half to come back and beat Oklahoma by 2 at home. Creighton will have some growing pains this year.

I was just flipping channels and caught the start of Vandy-LaSalle. Four seconds after tipoff a ref took an elbow to the temple and crashed to the floor. They had to put him in a neck brace and wheel him off the court on a stretcher. The announcers seemed to think he was OK, but he didn't look good to me. He never moved a muscle.

That's a bingo.

Scoring ineptitude:: #7 Virginia defeats Rutgers 45-26 in Brooklyn.

Edit: Record low for a team in modern era seems to be Saint Louis scoring 20 in 2008. Penn State beat Wisconsin 36-33 in 2011 for lowest total.
