Nominees please.

I'd probably go with Greg Henderson, but there are a few others who probably deserve consideration as well.

Who would you recommend and why?

That's a crazy list.

Juda.

DD Goodson. Has played three different positions at CU and has played under two head coaches. In four years.

It's always a senior, right?

If one guy goes out there this weekend, puts the team on his shoulders and wills us to a win, that guy wins it.

Even if that guy isn't a senior. That's how big a heart it would take to lift this team to victory.

Assuming the win is more of a team effort, or that we don't win, DD should win for the reasons mentioned.

Henderson, no doubt. Has been a solid player for four years, even when he has had crap across from him like his frosh and soph years. Probably should have redshirted, but couldn't afford it.

While Munyer, DD and Juda all had played a lot, Henderson was the best and showed up for every game over the last four years at a high level. Good personality too.

Not directly related to the topic, but best wishes to Marques Mosley this week. Hope his surgery and recovery goes well.

When I really think back on noteworthy performances by a senior, one that stands out is Will Oliver's press conference after missing 3 FGs against Cal. Owning up to his performance took balls. If Will doesn't get the HotB award, he should definitely get the nuts.

Tough call on many fronts. Real tough between Hendo and DD because of the many mentioned reasons above.

I'd go with Henderson. I haven't seen anyone mention that he's played a significant leadership/teaching role for the younger members of the secondary.

Tough call... ultimately, I'd go Hendo.

Also, it's been that long since Brayton graduated? Christ, I'm old.

Interesting that an offensive lineman has never won the award.
I find this very interesting too... and surprising considering the heart it takes to play a position that is extremely critical yet very unglamorous and usually thankless in most people's eyes. What about Munyer or even Crabb? Overcoming injuries, bad coaching...There's something to be said about the heart of the big uglys.

The first thing that comes to mind any time I read Hendo's name is the first time I learned who he was. The week of CU's 2011 season opener a Buff-oriented evening show on Mile High Sports Radio had him on the phone for an interview. My first thought was "Wow, we send the media a true freshman the week of a brand new head coach's first game." And Greg nailed it. At 18 years old, he was talking to the radio guys and answering everything they threw at him. That was the year of the BG Brooks article detailing how Greg Brown had to pick his starting cornerbacks from like 20 defensive backs in camp, and as it turned out we didn't even have 2 on the roster good enough to start and stay healthy. Henderson showed maturity that evening on the radio as he did throughout his true freshman campaign, anchoring one corner position opposite the likes of the converted DD Goodson, Brian Lockridge, and Espinoza Island. He battled that year, when clearly overmatched, against the likes of Ohio State, Oregon, USC... 3 years after that slate he is still fighting. He managed to get on the field and give everything he had. In an era when CU had a defense that could have won games against our schedule this year, Greg Henderson would be visible in many more fans' minds. He is as solid as they come and a true Colorado Buffalo.

^^This^^

Hendo has not only been an outstanding player for CU, he has also been pure class.

He got thrown in to a giant mess his first training camp and has adapted and persevered ever since. He has moved around and adjusted, filling in and covering for a lack of talent around him.

Wins have been few and far between in the years he has been here but I have never seen him dog it, even in games where hope was gone before most of the team got warmed up.

Mtn with a succinct post that nails it.

I'd go with DD. Kid gave up his RS year to fill in at CB when he had never played defense. Yes Hendo has been rock solid and all class, but the definition of this award has a lot to do with selflessness.

DD should win it and share it with Lockridge and Espinosa - in a special selfless dedication.

I totally have spaced Tony Jones. He has always been a well spoken, good young man from any interactions myself and others have had with him. A true Buff.
