If McElwain goes to Florida that yanks one of the leading candidates out of the Nebraska pool, gets McElwain out of the Fort and best of all............

Dave Logan to CSU talk.

Hell no, Logan needs to win more state titles at Creek.

**** that. I want that asshole in Ft. Collins till he has a losing record against CU. Galls me that they will have a coach leave with a winning record.

no worries. we will kick his ass in the 2018 CU v. uf playoff semi-finals.

RamNation is awesome right now, some choice threads:

"Don't forget to "Unlike" and "Unfollow" CJM FaceBook Page"

"LSU lost Nick Saban. They seemed to survive. Wisconsin lost Bert Bielema"

Matt Stephens is knocking on Sparkles' front door. No one is coming.

oooh, my favorite post "The kids outplayed their coaching"

ok, that's a bit sad. i skimmed the ramnation threads. some of them actually appear surprised that a coach would leave an also-ran to coach in the bigs. others believe they are going to hire a big name. and, still others think their talented players are going to transfer and play in the sec.

i used to mock them for their ignorance, but now i just feel sad for them. in a certain way, it must be comforting to be so myopic as to believe that your program can compete in the new world order, when all facts suggest otherwise.

i heard that uf is going to try to offset the buyout by offering the sheep a couple of games at uf. that's even more insulting. "we have your coach and now we will pay you a sum you are too poor to refuse to come and be our bitch."

seriously, this is a bit sad.

for them.

Right here. I want him in Fort Collins, and I want 2014 to be forever considered an outlier.

Hold on a second. I thought there was this giant buyout that nobody in their right mind would even think about paying.

supposedly uf is going to try to negotiate it down by offering the sheep a couple of games at uf. and the sheep are so broke that they will take the deal. ugly.

Yesterday a good number of them were convinced that McElwain was just using UF for publicity purposes and had no intention of taking the job.

Someone just suggested they use the buyout to send all the lamb fans to the bowl game.. That would be cheap. How many do you think would go? I put the over/under at 5k.

They should be looking at this as a positive. If his success continued there was no way he was staying long term anyway. Nonetheless, he improved performance dramatically (historically good in fact and definitely not the kind of success they are used to in Ft. Collins). They beat the only team they care about beating every year. They are going to get a payday when he is gone. They can use that money to help with facilities, budget or whatever. It seems like an almost best case scenario for them.

Who does CSU try to hire at this point?

Of course the most important thing is that if he leaves, then Colorado is going to beat the **** out of them next year. Works for me.

Guys - they have to hire an Athletic Director before they can start thinking about hiring a head coach. Think about that for a second.

I have strong suspicions that McElwain knew he was leaving after this year, especially after Graham was let go.

The extension & buyout were likely done to benefit CSU (while giving him some cover if things went to **** this year and he had to stay).

Part of why I think that is because he hasn't recruited much this year. They've only got 6 guys committed (and 1 of them was a JUCO who originally committed to CSU a couple years ago but had to get his transcripts in order).

Kiffin is in the process of rehabbing his reputation. saban showed genius by hiring the guy-- i thought it would be a train wreck. instead, kiffin is the reason they beat auburn last weekend. saban would have turtled in the 2nd half once they got the 3 point lead without kiffin there.

kiffin is not going to take the ****ing sheep job. he will stay at bama another year or 2 to complete the rehab and then he will get a big ass job. again. he's been the hc at the raiders, tennessee, and usc, fer goodness' sakes.

Hiring coaches isn't easy. Graham had the balls to open the checkbook and go big. Not sure if Frank will do the same.

Rumors on lamb board that this has been a done deal for 2 weeks now...

Agreed, Nik. He's a good coach. A good coach who knew he was probably going to continue to do well after the first few weeks. He got the extension and then got the deal figured out with UF during the bye week. Nice of him to do that extension.

That said, all that extra time focusing on game planning instead of recruiting is really gonna bite CSU in the butt unless they hire well.
