New offer out caught by SD over at Rivals. Kid is visiting Notre Dame this weekend and seems pretty high on them, but they haven't offered yet. Big back with some decent moves for his size.

Do you think this offer has something to do with Powell and his concussion issues.

Offer has everything to do with an average group of RBs.

Think some of both.

Powell has been reasonably effective when healthy but not consistently dominant. He has also spent more games on the bench nursing injuries than he has been fully available to play. His style seems to lend itself to getting hurt.

Adkins has shown flashes of ability but again, hurt more than healthy it seems.

Lindsay is smallish and hasn't shown himself to be dominant. Nobody else on the roster has either.

We aren't very deep, our best backs get hurt a lot, we aren't very good in short yardage.

Yes it is worth looking to bring in a guy who could be an upgrade.

Am I the only one who thinks we can win with the backs we have? Sure, I wouldn't turn away a kid, but I don't see RB as being a huge area of need.

This guy looks better than what we've got and if he came to CU I'd be thrilled, but we could go bowling with Pow, Adkins and Lindsay.

Depth and competition is always a good thing. Stewart will have a good chance to start. Powell can line up more at Fullback.

We are thin at RB and we don't have a power back other than Powell who will be a SR. This type of RB fits in perfectly into what we have and would raise the competition level. Clearly Mac is trying to add talent the Juco route where he feels we need it.

I want to agree but I can't. Everytime Pow hits the line I am afraid he is going to turn his brains into scrambled eggs. After looking like a future star in 2013 Adkins totally disappeared. Lindsay looks legit, but I crave for the days of Chris Brown and Bobbie Purify and having those big badass backs.

The Hugh Charles, Speedy Stewart backs are really fun when they are talented enough to be badasses, but I want a big bruiser.

Since when does Notre Dame take JC transfers? I don't think they've had any in years. Unlikely Smith ends up at ND.

CB was like 6'3" right? This guy is built like, pardon me saying this, Maurice Clarret.

Good comparison. Maurice was one hell of a college running back. Smith has a lot of the same power base, quick feet, lateral agility and forward lean. Hard to get a clean shot on him and an absolute load if someone does get his hands on him.

Maurice was faster though, I think. That guy had all the ability in the world, just couldn't stay out of trouble.

I was seven when Chris brown played. Just remembered he was a successful juco.
Transfers from Northwestern who came with GB, is the way I remember it.

Love the way he tears it up, could be a great Buff.

Was a JUCO who went to Northwestern then came to CU. Anyways, Smith looks like the real deal who could help immediately. I think we need another RB in this class and this guy would be awesome.

I'm pretty sure Brown left with Barnett. He was going to transfer to CU outright but Barnett wanted him at a JUCO for 1 year so he could get PT instead of just sitting the bench at CU

I remember when Chris Brown came here. It was at the same time we had Marcus Houston, Cortlen Johnson and Bobby Purify. I had never heard of Chris Brown. I figured he was just coming in to round out the roster and provide a little depth. Next thing I know, the guy is running for six touchdowns against Nebraska and ripping UT a new asshole in the B12 CG.

Id love to see this guy on our roster. Instead of Bobby purify and Chris brown, we could have jeremy Smith and Phillip Lindsay?
