How much of an embarrassment is this team? Zero passion and zero toughness. Tad progressed this program with mental toughness. He took players like Carlon Brown and Sab Chen and turned them into leaders. Why hasn't any of the current squad taken that roll? They are head and shoulders more talented but just don't want that leadership role. Im so confused.

Point guards matter a lot. They make others better and provide leadership. Dom has yet to fill the shoes (and no, I'm in no way blaming Dom. Expecting a young frosh to be a savior is unfair) . Until he does, the ceiling is only so high (but even w/o Dom, our ceiling far higher than what we've seen so far this season). We're a first round Big Dance team without Dom and we are playing like a fringe NIT team.

This was a very frustrated post. But I am so annoyed with watching this team. I don't understand the brand of bball that they are playing. There is no point to their offense. It's like they are running a pass and pick that doesn't really get anyone open. It's just an excuse to say they are running a "motion" offense. I don't get it. Why is josh consistently on the perimeter and not trying to seal a guy or fight for a post up.

There's no point guard. I don't care what the scheme is. It wouldn't be orchestrated well with the guards we have on the court. Ski's a gunner from off the ball. That's his game and we've ridden that roller coaster for 3 years.

Yet...

Ski is -- by far -- the best orchestrator of the offense right now from the PG position.

J-Hop and XT have to get better. They're better than they have played.

But, more importantly, Dom has to begin taking over when he returns in Maui.

Disclaimer that I didn't get to watch the game.

Having a good bench is nice for the duration of a season, but at the end of the day, your top 2-3 players are what win you games in basketball. Our two best players struggled terribly, Scott posting one of the worst games of his career, and we lost by two points to a team that takes this in-state stuff extremely seriously. I understand the frustration an disappointment, but if anything, I find promise with a game like this (even tho I'm just box score watching).

XJ played like a man. Ski isn't one of our two best players. At minimum, Scott, XJ, & Gordon are more important/better players than Ski. His inefficiency & lack of basketball IQ is killing this team. I'd rather see the growing pains of J-Hop, XT, & Dom whenever he's healthy than Ski lift 9 bad shots every game.

I'm angry this morning. Yesterday, the stock market crashed, the Buffs get beat by the damned rams after a year where they beat us in football and in the NCAA Volleyball tournament. This will go down as one of, if not the, greatest years in csu ****ing hsitory!

Then, this morning, if I'd not been so depressed I'd have gotten out of bed sooner and gotten out of the garage 3 seconds earlier, and I'd have gotten onto 64th in front of the long line of cars which would have kept me from getting behind the slow bitch on McIintyre which would have kept me from hitting every light and kept me from getting behind the damned 18 wheeler which would have kept me from hitting the lights on 32nd which would have let me beat the on coming traffic trying to turn on to 26th which would have kept me from hitting all the lights on Union and being 10 minutes late to work!!! LIFE SUCKS TODAY!!!

In the games I've seen, we don't move the ball or ourselves. A lot of standing around watching. As pointed out, pg position is killing us. The thing that worries me though is our guys look like they don't know what they are supposed to do in the half court. That's not good. It's also why I've wanted to get up and down the floor as much as possible, don't give them a chance to think lol.

That was Tad's number one point after the game. No ball movement.

Look Tad is starting to look clueless about offense. Ball movement is great, but when you are passing the ball to guy who are just standing there, it doesn't automatically generate any offense.

So we are more than just a good PG away. We cannot have an entire offense hinge around 5 guys standing behind the 3 point line passing the ball to each other for 25 seconds and then your stud PG drives to the hoop and either makes a bucket or gets fouled. It is just not sustainable to do that long term and eventually you will run into someone who can shut that guy down and you lose the game or you play on the road and don't get the calls.

Team just isn't talented enough to have Josh Scott go 0/7 from the floor, and win against a good team

While any system would be difficult to have success in without a true PG, our system where our best big camps out 20 feet away from the basket for almost an entire 40 minutes is doomed to failure

We have three major problems:

a) a roster where only three players are consistent offensive options
b) a lack of a true pg/any type of leadership
c) an offensive system that makes no sense considering a and b. When you have Alec, Spencer, and to a lesser extent Nate, you can expect players to create their own offense. You can expect leaders, and players to be held accountable. In absence of such a player, then you need to put the good players on the team in a better position to have success

I know people want to rag on Ski for the moronic play to end the game, where we needed 3 and he went for the layup. However, even with his 9 bad shots, Ski was one of 2 players last night who appeared to give a damn. Him and XJ almost won this game by themselves. Scott was lost. Never seen him look so confused and so apathetic. Looked like he couldn't have cared less about being there last night. Flat out, gave up on trying to get position. Gave up on trying to back down the defender. Terrible basketball from him last night.

Josh cared. He was clearly frustrated.

The problem is off ball movement and Scott setting picks at the 3pt line and not cutting to the rim. I saw Wes standing in the corner 3 a lot. That is so far out of position. I can't even begin to explain.

They need to get some production out of there perimeter players. Hopkins, Fletcher, Talton need to become some kind of threat and scoring option to help free up Scott inside somewhat. When they get the ball in there hands none of them look to be a threat besides a few drives by Hopkins. Gordon needs to take something from Kenneth Faried and attack the boards, and play off pure energy and athleticism, easier said than done though.

This is what scares me about the consulting with George Karl. His Denver teams were never good at ball movement. It was a stand around and watch someone create style of offense. We really need Dom to take over this team.

We were +8 with Booker on the floor in the first half and +6 for the game with Booker on the floor. I know this fan base loves to hate Booker but he wasn't the problem last night. That hockey sub when we were up 12-5 and starting to stretch our legs followed by an ensuing bad foul call on Booker which sent a hot shooter to the bench was the beginning of the end. Ski is not and never will be: Spencer, Carlon, even Nate as a floor commander "preserving" a hot shooting Booker just because he picked up a second questionable foul so that he could come in after not playing for a half hour doesn't work. That's on tad and he should know that given the Ski is a senior.

I don't "hate" Ski.......I just wish that half of our offensive possessions weren't just Ski dribbling around trying to create his own shot, while 4 guys stand around. And that's totally on the coaches.

I'm guessing others feel the same way, and that's where the frustration comes from.

Tad is trying to run an offense with players that aren't suited for that style.

I think we should run and gun, could be wrong there but I'm biased based on I love that type of basketball. We could at least press at times, we have athletes. I think it fit XJ very well for example. Nobody on here hates Ski, he's frustrating at times cause he has a little JR Smith in him, imho.

guard play is going to be our downfall and everyone knows it. Not off guard, PG. We have no general, so the troops are standing around with their thumbs up their asses.

Put dom in as a starter with 28+ min/gm (or as many as he can take) as quick as possible and take our lumps. XT & Jhop can serve backup.

Not singling out you by any means, half the rivals board wanted ski's head for last nights game and at least a few people are pinning the loss or a portion of the loss on this board. When its fair its fair but he was 1 of 3 guys last night who showed up and played.

When we had a ball stopper in Melo (and AI) that's true. Our 57 win team attacked the rim relentlessly from all angles and got to the FT line. We had that game where we scored 90 some PTs in the paint against the Kings. That's what Tad was trying to replicate by getting input from Georgr Karl. A team that constantly makes the extra pass and destroys teams in transition. We just don't have as many guys who can create for others and a few players who look lost.

Obviously, Scott played horribly. Only XJ showed up. Ski taking 19 shots doesn't tell me that he gives a damn about winning. It tells me he wants to score. If Ski is taking 19 shots, has 3 assists & 4 turnovers then he's not helping us. If he's attempting 36.5% of our team's field goals, considering that he's never proven to be an efficient scorer then we're not bouncing back. There were several possessions where he took a shot before ever trying to involve others.

+4 for the game with Ski on the floor.

No other player w/significant minutes was a + for the game.

Ok, so lets say we limit ski to 10 shots last night, and he scores 5 points less because of that. Who else do you want taking those 10 shots that are now available?

Did you guys decide to switch places with Utah? Washington say no we are back? Interesting so far with the PAC, one thing always remains Arizona is Arizona.

I agree, Zona is pretty consistent at losing in the P12 tourney.
