'15 CO OT Tim Lynott (Signed to COLORADO)

The crowd, the uniform tweak, the stadium upgrades, the obvious team improvement... had to do a lot to ease his doubts.

Can't wait to get him here.

Watched Grandview and Cherokee Trail on Altitude tonight and Blake Olson interviewed him in a segment at halftime. He is one of Blake's "Magnificent 7".

Can't wait to see him running behind Ralphie.

Two months without saying anything on here so I will say that CU needs this beast of a young man. And it shows we can recruit the state and not take as much **** from the idiots that don't understand only 5-8 kids are D1 material in CO yearly.

Apparently, the in-home with Lynott recently went extremely well. He's going to be a great Buff.

Lynott is probably the biggest recruit to commit to MMac to date. He is exactly what we need to get this program going again.

I really hope we can redshirt him. By that, I mean I hope the OL has enough talent and depth next year so that we don't need Lynott to step in immediately. Lynott as a fifth year senior will be light years ahead oddly not as a true freshman.

Agree completely.

If we need him to play, play him, but it would be huge if we can start seeing the guys we put out on the field, especially in the trenches have an additional level of maturity. It seems like the schools with very good lines tend to see a lot of 4th year Juniors settling in for a couple of years of leading the way to wins.

You're right, but there's a chance he's better than what we've got already and we're losing 2, maybe 3 linemen from the starting 5 (plus some depth.)

Callahan should step in at LG, I would imagine. Kelley was fine last year and the RG spot is open. That's probably Lynott's strongest position. Who is going to keep him off the two deep so we can redshirt him?

I feel very confident in Huckins and Callahan stepping in this year. Lynott should be able to redshirt. If I had to guess right now, I'd say he redshirts, backs up Kelley as a RS-Frosh, and is then our starting OC for 3 years.

Have him on the two deep and if the starter gets substantially injured, he steps in, if it's just a play or two keep him out.

It would be ideal for almost all our Frosh recruits to red shirt, as it would mean the talent at the top and our depth is pretty good. Unfortunately, that's not the case with this program yet. If Lynott lives up to his 4* billing, he should be no worse than an immediate backup on the 2-deep. I just think there's too much riding on next season to red shirt guys that can contribute as Freshman. Hopefully the kid from Auburn (Callahan) lives up to his 4* billing as well and can step right in and give a huge boost to the OL.

If he can contribute, he plays. We don't have the depth yet to sit a guy who can contribute. And you never know when you might be able to use the red shirt over the next 4 or 5 years. Yeah, ideally, most freshmen would red shirt.

BTW, it sure was sweet to see his and Middlemiss's pictures next to each other in the Denver Post's All Colorado team photos.

Exactly. This coaching staff doesn't have the luxury of developing the really good young talent with a red shirt year. They need to be 100% sure the other guys are better than Lynott if they're going to save his eligibility. Same goes for all their recruits and I'm sure that's part of, if not the main reason, for putting such a big emphasis on the JUCO talent.

This would be ideal.

Hopefully Sully also provides quality depth so we don't "have" to play Lynott unless he is truly ready.

Agree here. I like Lynott as a good prospect but if we have to play him for any reason as a true frosh we are in deep s***. You don't go from playing Grandview or whoever in CO to playing USC and their potential 1st round picks all over the D line, you just don't.

The thinking that he already as a "PAC 12 body" may be 1 of the stupidest things I have read on this board. Lets have realistic expectations here and hope to see him compete for a starting spot in '16.

While your sentiment here is ideal, it's not realistic at the University of Colorado at this time. This team has to play the best guys at every position, and if you hadn't noticed, our OL didn't exactly do well against USC. Lynott may not be physically mature enough to handle some of the NFL prospects along the P12 D Lines, but if he's one of the best we have, he needs to be playing. Also, OL play is more about technique and the mental side of it than it is about sheer size and brute strength. BTW, by the time the season rolls around he'll be 6'4" 315+. That's plenty big enough be effective.

Maybe someday people will give the OL some credit. We don't need Lynott to come in and play as a 18 year old unless he is a star.
