9-5 Stanford at 1st media timeout. Buffs were up 5-2, but Stanford's leading scorer, a shorter (5'7") guard with a sweet shot, has gotten hot and has 7 points already.

Not a bad looking start. Forced a shot clock violation early. But haven't been able to get a basket after the first 2, down 9-5

There's going to be lots of folk with foul trouble- these refs are calling a LOT of fouls. Stanford's leading rebounder already on the bench with 2 fouls.

13-11 Stanford with ~12 minutes left in the half.

13-11 Stanford
These foul calls are infuriating. Refs not allowing any flow in either side. And the offensive foul on Huggins was a total flop

Buffs doing well considering I can't remember them hitting more than one outside shot so far. 21-17 Stanford at media timeout. Swan, Beard-Fails and Huggins out I assume for the half with 2 fouls each already. Kresl already with 3 assists with some nice passes inside.

25-19 Stanford. Buffs call 1st timeout after 2 consecutive bad turnovers. 5:20 left.

32-23 Stanford at last media timeout of the half. Combination of bad outside Buff shooting, good Stanford shooting and the Buffs not able to guard the basket that well with both Swan and Beard-Fails foul troubles proving VERY problematic. Frosh Zoey Correal looking pretty good- has 6 point already, and looks in control and comfortable with her post moves.

Impressed with Correal stepping up. Hopefully less foul trouble second half and can keep a full rotation

Other than Correal, no Buff shooting better than 33.3%, and the guards/ wings are a combined 3-14 (0-5 from 3). Someone's going to have to start to hit something from the outside for the Buffs to have any chance.

On the positive side, Buffs up in rebounding 20-16 and haven't allowed too many offensive boards to the Trees, which has been a problem in non-conference. Also, turnovers, which killed the Buffs last game against Long Beach, are close (6 Buffs- 5 Stanford) so far, even though Stanford has been full court pressing quite a bit.

42-31 Stanford with ~15 minutes left.

This is turning into a simple story of shooting- Buffs 0-8 from beyond the arc, most with good looks (they're averaging .374 for the year), while Stanford is 5-8 from 3.

42-35 with 12:20 minutes left and Buffs on the line. TO Stanford. Buffs playing good tough defense.

Yes Buffs! Down to 42-40 Stanford lead. Buffs press causing some problems, along with stanford making some unforced turnovers. Kresl, with no field goals a minute ago, has made the Buffs last 4 points.

Buffs just took a one point lead on a 3 pointer (43-42), but then Stanford answers right back with a three of their own.

48-43 Stanford at the media timeout (7:47 left). Buffs give up some easy layup, and Stanford starting to swarm more on defense.

Ugh- 57-47 now. Buffs looking a little tired, and Stanford's 2 main guards are smooth and making everything they put up. (They have 40 of Stanford's points on 16-27 shooting, 4-5 from 3.)

Better Buffs- down to 57-51. 1:47 left.

There's been a 2 minute delay as they try to see who knocked a rebound out of bounds. Edit- and I think they screwed the Buffs.

60-55 Stanford and a 93% free throw shooter up for Stanford after the Buff timeout with 18 seconds left. Doesn't look good.

Overall, though, a good effort by the Buffs. If they'd shot even close to normal from the outside, this could have EASILY been a win.

62-55 Stanford is the final score.

Well Buffs- VERY good effort and they looked a lot better than the last game. Keep it up and get Cal on Monday.
