vance joseph must really be moving up the coaching ranks

Vance really stepped up for us in 1990 and a few other times in his career as a Buff, he also has some experience coaching special teams, - just sayn

I remember when CU hired Embree that there were a couple articles suggesting Joseph due to the CU ties and the criteria of that search. It didn't get much run from we fans. Probably because a DB coach in his 30s who left CU under the cloud of the scandal era seemed outlandish for the HC hire. Clearly he's highly thought of and should be a guy we keep an eye on going forward.

Vance was very highly thought of as a coach here in Houston. In addition to the success of the Texan pass defense, he got some time calling defensive plays as Interim Defensive Coordinator when DC Wade Phillips became the Interim Head Coach due to Gary Kubiak's heart troubles.

Interview for the Broncos is strictly to satisfy the Rooney Rule. Nothing more for a head coaching opp. Have heard he could potentially be a DC candidate for Broncos if they go with Kubiak, however. Wouldn't mind him as the DC in Boulder, either.

If they were only trying to satisfy the Rooney Rule Elway could have went over the intercom and said "Eric Studesville can you come to my office" I think VJ is really a candidate to be the DC now that Elway is meeting with Kubiak this weekend. Bottom line though is his name being mentioned as an NFL HC makes the likelihood he would be interested in the Buffs DC job highly unlikely.

I kind of think they frown on bogus interviews. They have to be at least somewhat legit.

We can both agree that VJ isn't a real candidate for Head Coach, though, right? Could very well be fulfilling the Rooney Rule, while interviewing him for DC position under Kubiak.

Agreed, kill 2 birds with one stone, One of Gary's kids works for Elway (Klein) and I heard Gary still owns his house in Denver. The only stumbling block in this is convincing Mrs. K that The Duke can keep the heat off of Gary so he doesn't have another heart / stroke issue. Which I think is easily taken care of by Elway. Hope it happens my boss played HS ball with Gary at St. Pius in Houston he was his starting center. Has a cool picture of them and another guy walking off the field as seniors after a playoff game.
