Josh Scott out for LA road trip

Well, screw.

If my back was hurting, a long plane ride would be the last thing I'd be interested in. sucks. hope Scott gets better and heals 100% for Pac12 tourney. amount of info we're getting on this injury is small.

I'm having trouble keeping up with the XJ news.

I'd imagine he's getting to the point where he'll be pretty out of shape if or when he returns. It must be a very disappointing and frustrating season for him.

The longer this goes on the more it makes me doubt the injuries and reinforces how soft these two are.

Do they ever grant a medical redshirt when a player has played >30% of the teams games? Do league tournament and post-season games count towards the total?

Not that I have any special insight, but if Josh were given an extra year he might not take it anyway.

I guess the "bright side" is that we are giving a lot of young guys experience and it's starting to bare some fruit. And, hopefully, that will carry over to next year when Scott and XJ return along with the Fortune kid.

The team has looked into a RS and it's not going to happen. Josh has played too many games. I have been told it may be more than just back spasms and maybe a fracture.

With all the new medical technology, like x-rays, a fracture is pretty easy to diagnose these days. Seems odd that they wouldn't announce a fracture.

Josh is one of the toughest kids on the team. His issues are likely worse than originally believed. Now XJ on the other hand...

Back stuff can be difficult to diagnose.

Tad has always played everything very close to the vest. Injuries are very rarely discussed in any detail - after a concussion Wes suffered last year all Tad would say was that he was "nicked up." I wouldn't read to much into the program not releasing info. Couple that with the strange rules around HIPAA and college athletes CU's not going to ever release much info.

OK, since this is now in the BBall forum, as I posted in Barzil, I think this is worse than just back spasms.

It's definitely beginning to look that way. Back spasms ARE bad, but they typically don't last this long. It's been nearly a month now. And while they certainly can last that long, it's pretty unusual. Especially given the access to trainers and physical rehab available to him, I'd guess there is something more at play here. It's probably bad, too. We can't have nice things. That's been documented.

Throw in that we're talking about a 20 or 21 year old in peak physical condition. Recovery's going to be a lot faster for him than it would be for you or me.

Reached a point of been downright discouraged with the progress of some of the current sophs. BUT, after that WSU game.... and some flashes during the AZ road trip....

Dissappointing that our "big two" cannot play..... and may not make the trip (Josh no, and XJ maybe...). However, the recent progression of the "Sophs" has me rejuvenated about this team. "A little bit louder now...." Not sure what the upside is for 2015 tourneys because of the mediocre start, but increasingly optimistic about where we can get to longer term with this team. Freshman coming along nicely (think Dom will be fine, just needs some time for nature and the gym to work some magic), and hopefully we have a couple of additional guards to add in next year.

I'm on the mend, hoping this road trip does not bring me back to my senses ;)

Hope springs eternal..... ;)

FWIW - I'm also hearing XJ's ankle is fine and has been for a week or more. Take from that what you will.

Saw a noticeable favoring of one leg post game against WSU. Would explain why he looked so irritated during shoot around in that game though.

I really wouldn't put a lot of stock in that WSU game. Washington State is a horrible basketball team. This LA road trip - and the UCLA game in particular - will tell us a lot more.

Except for Arizona and Utah, the Pac is generally pretty horrible this season. We're competing to be king of the dip****s.

You guys keep saying this about WSU but their conference record is identical to ours (and UCLA's) at 3-4, which is better than UW and ASU's at 3-5, and much better than Cal and USC's at 1-6. In fact they beat UW on the road. They hung with Stanford pretty good until the end (on the road) and lost by 15. We beat them worse than Utah beat them....

While I'd agree it's one game and not exactly something we can hang our hat on, WSU is about middle of the pack right now in the conference. There's 2 really good teams and 2 really bad teams. And stanford has been consistently better than the "others" but not exactly world-beating.

exactly - why are we discounting our wins but killing them for losses?
