I don't know if this kid has ever been brought up on these boards but check out this article I came across today. The kid is 6'3, 200 lbs, threw for 4,567 yards and 49 TDs with 6 INTs, while leading his 6A NM high school (Rio Rancho) to a 13-0 record and the state championship. Blue chip recruit with every offer in the country, right?? Wrong. He has exactly 0 scholarship offers and nobody really knows why. He is unrated and 0 stars on Rivals and I can't even find him on 247. The only thing anyone can say about the lack of offers is because he lives in NM where there's not much exposure. What gives???

Landry Jones came from NM, so if he's good enough for offers people would probably find him. Maybe it's because Easton Bruere sounds like a hockey players name.

Maybe he didn't report offers to recruiting sites. But I am happy with Steven Montez.

Very clear from the article that he hasn't been receiving offers. Real question is why.

Something very strange going on here, it may be New Mexico but it isn't the end of the earth and he has gone to camps as well.

Hope he gets a last minute offer then proves all those who passed on him wrong but gut feeling is that it doesn't happen

Saw some comments that suggested that he is possibly missing the personal intangibles that make him likable and make coaches want to make him part of their program.

1st bold - Read the article
2nd bold - Me too; this is just an extremely odd situation that you don't often see

I'm guessing all this national run for his lack of scholarships is actually going to end up getting him a few offers before NSD.

I think the "national run" might not have its intended effect.

I've heard of him but yeah something is up. You'd think maybe local programs would take a look. Maybe UNM isn't a fit with what they do on O?

Aren't the lobos running the triple option? Even so, you'd think NMSU or UTEP would be interested.

I know they run some option but I don't know what formation they run out of, haven't really watched them. I'm sure it's like they ran when Bob was at ND.

I was just coming on to ask about this kid. I get the love for Montez, but this Bruere kid seems to have a similar game and not look like he's going to be snapped in half the first time he's hit by a P5 d-lineman.

You have to wonder why he's not being at least asked to walk on at UNM or NMSU, but I think it would be crazy not to think that at least a large part of the reason he's been overlooked is because of where he lives. A kid from NM is not going to be looked at as having gone up against quality opposition. I dunno. I guess I wouldn't have minded hearing that we at least sent someone down there to see him and meet him.

He needs to go to a JUCO

If he doesn't get any D1 offers before NSD, I would say that could be his best option. I still just don't understand how this has happened. You'd be hard pressed to find better stats at, or exceeding the competition level of 6A, and I'd think most programs would take notice and at least look at his film or attend a game. He even played head to head against blue chip, UM commit, QB Zach Gentry (also from NM), and beat his team.

Texas just grabbed a QB from NM ? perplexing

Didn't mean to dislike the post, just accidentally touched it.

Appearances aside, it's my experience that NM kids are more prone to getting celery'ed.

It's definitely odd, we aren't being told something but if he really wants to play, he should go to a JUCO. Really weird that not even NMSU offered him.

Good article about him - 4.0 grade average and tons of interest, just no offers

With his head down like that, you can't see his neck balls. At least that's my guess. That sort of thing can really affect recruiting.
