CU football: Buffs set to pay Leavitt $500,000 a year

Considering TT is paying Gibbs 550k and Durkin is pushing 900k, it's one more reason to give this hire an A+.

Fair deal.

Baer was making $457.5k.

More than Lindgren's $455k.

UCLA's DC Jeff Ulbrich made $510k last year. Raiders just hired him away. That was the 6th highest assistant salary in the Pac-12 (privates didn't report, so no USC or Stanford). http://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/salaries/football/assistant

I have to disagree... Leavitt is a huge upgrade in terms of experience and reputation versus Baer. Rick did a phenomenal job in getting Leavitt for $500k.

Anyone know how much was he making in the NFL? Seems like we got him at a fair price, probably a little lower than I expected.

Bennett from Baylor is making $900K per year? Are you kidding me? Leavitt is worth $700K minimum.

I thought it would be much more. DC salaries are skyrocketing and he has plenty of experience.

I wonder what the details are? Maybe there are some sweet incentives ontop of that 500k

So impressed with the program right now.

If the full terms of the deal hit the media I'd like to see what the incentives are. The starting deal ups the school's DC salary without giving a ridiculous amount up front for having shown nothing on the field. I am confident Leavitt will earn that first year and the pot will sweeten.

He once made a crappy KSU defense number one nationally, in just two years.

Seems like JL gave us a sweetheart deal. Now, ask yourself why he would do that. :smile2:

Yes, at the same time Pac-12 football in 2015 is a different game and as a CU fan I'm in wait and see mode. Love the hire based on name cache so far. Just cautious.

Not to go all 'Tini on you, but his last job makes me believe he gets the modern game.

Ask hotrack. Apparently he believes that those of us who think we received a bargain are stupid.
