He has good size and likes CU. Only problem is they now have a wealth/an abundance of OL. They have to be picky this recruiting cycle. Unfortunately the in-state smack talking will be ridiculous when we don't reach for a bunch of in-state guys like CSU did.

We can never have to many big guys in the trenches. Look at SC, UCLA and so on. Red Shirt him (or not) and move him to guard...

Just watched his film. This kid is a tractor..
Keep him close to home.

Caught up with Ashton last night. Said he's up to 305 and working hard with Matt M. Wyoming junior day last weekend with CSU, CU and K-State ones on tap. He said the CU one he'll be at is around the time of the spring game.

FIFY. Think you mean t'other way round.

Looks like Matt Damon.....if Damon was on 'roids. Always need the trenches well-stocked. This kid fits the bill perfectly. He'll get good coaching in his HS, too.

Thanks, Kyle

We will likely take 1 or 2 OL again this cycle. If he is a legit 3 star guy with that size then he certainly should be in play for us.

Gotta be able to move. Size without mobility isn't much good at this level.

Dearth means the opposite of what it appears you think it means.

Dearth means the opposite of what it appears you think it means.

But Dearth and Abundance are spelled so similarly.

But I don't think we have an abundance, we are starting to get to levels that are normal for P5 programs. It is more important that we get a few quality OL each year because a lot of the guys we are recruiting for OL are developmental types. They are on the roster but we are only going to get 1-2 solid years of play out of them once they mature into the role.

Don't have a problem with that though. Wisconsin has used that model for years and wins a lot of games.

If Ashton is a guy for us I'd love to see us start out the recruiting year with another quality CO kid.

I got that afterwards. This was pointed out. A wealth. My apologies.

And reading 'Tini or tini or whatever says, Torres will need to show some speed since the other OL we signed this cycle all seemed to be able to move a bit.

Richmond Flying Squirrels Minor League Baseball Team

I'll rep you anyway, but I should have mentioned that the Flying Squirrels are the only hits for that phrase, but not a one explains why it's spelled "funn". Anybody know?

Back to this Tractor of a kid.

Dude is 17, almost 6'5 and 300lbs. The kid plays LT on a team that struggled and still got First Team all conference in the Centennial league. Looks like he works at 60 Zero. I'm sure McChesney is working on his foot speed.

Put him a Guard and let him smash heads. I just believe in keeping our best kids at home... That will lead to our success.

We had a great start this year by snagging Middlemiss and Lynott!!

Keep the Trenches loaded with home grown beef...

McChesney did wonders for Umu's feet and core strength / explosiveness. I'm eager to see Ashton's senior year. I have heard through the grapevine that the kid will put the work in.

Crap!!! I forgot to mention Umu!!!

I just love seeing us keep our states best!! Why let CSU and Wyoming get these kids.

I don't go as far as you on that. Some of the state's best are MWC caliber players and CU's trying to win the Pac-12. We've got to let a lot of the D1 caliber CO preps go the the MWC if we want CU to be able to compete. I definitely support focusing on Colorado recruiting and taking some extra chances in Colorado, but CU can never lose sight of the fact it's punching in a different weight class than CSU and Wyoming.

Agree here completely.

We need to keep the majority of the best players in state but can't afford to take MWC level guys just because they are from Colorado.

Umu was a MWC level guy at the start of the process but working with McChesney he busted his but and developed himself into a guy worth looking at for a P5 slot.

I could not agree more. I think I worded it wrong.
I see this of this kid as a Guard at a high level..(work on his speed) My point is. I think if these out of state recruits see we are recruiting Colorado's best. We have a better shot at recruiting more top notch out of state players.

Looks like Ashton visits K-State next week.

I'm sure McChesney knows all this and will work hard at getting him ready.

I do totally agree with your statement Buffnik...

But then the local media would anoint CSU as the recruiting winner over CU! Can't let that happen!

Are we sure we have enough Big guys that we might not need this kid?

It's a small class this year, so I think most of us are ok with the staff being very deliberate with the process. Only 9 seniors graduating (only 1 from the OL).

This board (and me, in particular) have been very supportive of the principle that the state of Colorado consistently turns out good offensive linemen and that, as a general rule, the foundation of CU football can be 2 or 3 in-state OLs every year from among the top guys.

With Ashton, given the numbers this year, what I would like to see is him camp with CU this summer. If he takes care of business and the CU offer comes, that would be a great scenario.

Yep! I agree. I remember that Dalton (I think that was his name) kid from Wiggins going to K-State.
(hated to see that) I just like the Big guys in the trenches to stay local. I really see this kid being a D1 guard...
