Biggest Pac-12 surprise in coaching job rankings: Colorado

Colorado is 4-32 in Pac-12 play since joining the conference in 2011. That's obviously not a good record. In fact, it's so bad that it threatens to derail the case I'm about to make. There's no way that Colorado ranking 55th of 65 Power 5 teams when it comes to head-coaching job desirability is a surprise, right? If anything, the Buffs' miserable .111 conference win percentage over the past four seasons would suggest that the No. 55 ranking is too high, right?

Good article...basically saying we have all the ingredients to be successful, and long term success at that.

I see our strengths as: we are in a P5 conference, Boulder is a great college town, we have a history of success, we are finally getting support from admin with the hire of RG, RG is building great new facilities, we are near a major metro area, have a staff with proven success of turning around programs much worse than CU (SJSU, USF) and have a good budget for coaches, particularly assistants.

Now that it's been built, let the wins come!

I think it is easy to pick the best two jobs (USC and Oregon) and the two worst jobs (Wazzu and Oregon State). The middle eight is much harder.

You don't think UCLA is close to Oregon? It seems like they are picking up a lot of steam.

Crazy that the two worst jobs were able to attract two pretty big name coaches. Why would Gary Anderson ever leave Wisconsin for Corvallis???

Wasn't he pissed about admission standards? Just wanted to get back out west and OSU was the only job open? Not sure weird move for sure.

Their administration is very cheap and not all that accommodating to big football.

Didn't they just throw a bunch of money into facilities? They don't need to throw Oregon money at anything, they are the most applied to school in the nation.

They have had issues in the past with facilities, admissions, and assistant coach salaries. Some of it is getting rectified in a major way now. Not a slam dunk for the #3 job in the conference though.

Every since CU moved to the Pac-12 the coverage has been so much more intelligent than in the Big 12 days. ESPN seems to get it now. CU's rightly at #55 based on recent past, but of the bottom three tiers in its rankings CU is the program most likely to be in the Top 25 of this ranking in 2-3 years.

Uh, yeah OSU, Cal, and Utah are not better jobs. UCLA is way too high as well.

And the split national title is dumb to. Seems CU is the only school where people bring thst up despite most titles being split.
