I know a coach who does a lot of recruiting in the area for a D1 school, so I asked him if he knew the kid:

"Oh yeah. He's big and very very skilled. Can score."

I like that he scores. He must have made a huge jump from where he was to get an offer...

Interesting when you see the other schools that offered.

Definitely a bit of a red flag. One thing to remember though is that JUCO is a weird game that some big schools won't even touch. Would have liked to see an Iowa State offer in there though.

NewsWest 9 sports tweeted on 12/3/14 that he decided to sit out the season. coming off injury he seeks 3 years of DI eligibility.

I saw that tweet too, it makes no sense though. He played before and after 12/3/14........when did he sit out?

No idea. I thought maybe he was hurt early in the season but since it happened early enough we was able to redshirt.

OK, so the link to the stats I provided earlier in the thread was apparently his 2013-14 season.

Ok - so this leaves the soph class next year as the following
Kenan, King (redshirt) and dom, correct?

Also, I though that they were looking for a guard with this scholarship....kind of makes me think one of the forwards we have now may not be around next year.

Will told me once "the team takes the best talent they can get and worries about positions later".

Wonder if Torren Jones going to Midland is what led them to discover Guzonjic. Played 1 yr of HS ball & wasn't D1 eligible then went to a Midland team that barely won any games---not a recipe for being discovered by high-majors. Gotta like his tools.

And quote from rivals (oct 2014)

One of the weekends more impressive players was Midland's 6-foot-8 Kenan Guzonjic of Bosnia. Let it be known that head coach Jordan Dreiling has a really good prospect in inside/out forward/post Guzonjic. The lefty was using power moves around the basket, stepping out and draining the three, was able to get the ball at the top of the perimeter and get his passes inside to teammates. There wasn't much that Guzonjic didn't showcase as he operated at the goal using up and under moves, and was crafty against more athletic players. Offers have come in from Southern Mississippi, SFA, Louisiana Monroe, Louisiana Lafayette, and UT-Arlington.
