Intersting year / state of the AD

I look at 2015 as a very telling year.

Tad has come back to earth. He had a disappointing year. Can he recruit the right chemistry and match the high level of expectations he set in his short tenure?

I think Mac has turned the football program in a positive direction. He has done it very slowly and methodically. If it doesn't translate into wins, I think the focus will turn to recruiting and he has underperformed there.

RG has totally kicked ass at taking in money in ways no one has before. Does he have the same ability to make key hires? Hopefully we don't have to find out in 2015. The stadium fix is huge. I can't wait to see what happens to the athletics endowment if he gets things rolling on the field and court at the same time!

All of the other money drain sports seem to be doing okay. In terms of greatness, the ski and cross country teams are there. Does Women's Volley Ball or Basket Ball get his attention?

Yes, my attempt to feed my CU addiction in the offseason

Probably need to see how the LAX and track teams do this Spring before grading the department for the year. I've been really impressed by the progress our LAX team has made. Two years in, and they're competing with the elites of women's lacrosse. Not quite winning those games yet, but are certainly competing. This, with a team made up of mostly Sophomores and Freshmen. Pretty impressive.

I will be watching for the annual report out on AD Financials. Fiscal years ends in June for the AD, IIRC. Report comes out in July or August. Rick George had an aggressive budget and I want to see how close he comes. Especially paying down the debt. The debt load the AD is working under is significant and I am glad to see George attacking it.

That will be interesting. They wrote a significant check for a new DC and probably were under projections for BBall.

A preferred term is "Olympic Sports". Even "non-revenue generating sports" is better than "money drain sports".

If CU didn't have a bare minimum number of athletic programs, the athletic department would not comply with NCAA and or Title IX reqirements. Therefore, a sexy way to spin these programs is as "Football and Basketball enabling sports."

A 20th Natty in skiing and a 9th in XC (back to back none the less) are both amazing accomplishments. These programs are not only "there" in terms of greatness, they represent the standard of excellence all other departments can only hope to achieve.

Ski-U and XC-U is who we are.

Random thoughts...so is a former lacrosse player known as an EX LAX?
