Jaron Hopkins leaving

Damn, that's too bad. I really liked Hopkins, and I believed he had tremendous potential if he could fix his dribbling issues and FT shooting, but alas, it is time to move on. We need some guys to move on in order to be successful for next year.

I hope Boyle can get a grad transfer to replace him. There are plenty available.

I wish him the best. Always like J-Hop. He needs to find himself a mid-major that runs and presses. He could thrive in that type of environment.

Best of luck to him going forward. It's not particularly surprising to me. Jaron certainly was not thriving in Tad's system and he seems like he might have the tools to be a pretty good player (if he figures out his dribbling issues).

Are DT and JH leaving due to not wanting to be here themselves or Tad advising them that they are not in his plans going forward? Seriously curious as I don't follow CU bball more than casually.

Agree with above. Wish him luck and will miss his dunks and open court moves. Was hoping to seem him as part of a pressing defense the last few years to utilize his skill set.

I hope this is in jest

If you looked real close there was a little bit of sarcasm font.

I'm surprised by all the Jaron love. I definitely wish him well, he seems like a good guy, but I couldn't stand his game. With his ability he should have been a lockdown defender and slashing threat. Instead he gave us average defense and committed non-stop turnovers in transition.

His lack of commitment to the defensive end is the main thing that held him back. I had a problem with that. If he'd been the perimeter defender he's capable of being, he would have had XT's minutes this year and it would have had a major impact to the season's results. I could have lived with the growing pains on the offensive end, so I know Tad would have been able to.

After 2 years of college, I think his dribbling and shooting is what it is for the most part. He's got unique skills, but those two are not his strengths. Maybe a different system is a better fit. Tad brought him here envisioning him becoming the lockdown perimeter defender that his athleticism enables and JHop just doesn't appear to have that mindset.

This frees up about 10 minutes a game at the 2 and 2.5 minutes a game at the 3. Some one asked about Fletch he was our #4 option at the 2 so I don't expect him to pick up many minutes there especially with minutes at the 3 freeing with Dustin and Jaron leaving who collectively took about 15% of the minutes available at the three.

So, next years lineup (as of today):
C Scott
PF Gordon
SF Fletcher
SG Fortune
PG Collier

Key Reserves:
F XJ (If he is still around)
F/C Miller
G/F King
G XT
F Gusonjic
G Akyazili

Losses:
Booker
Thomas
Hopkins

Is this team better than the 2014/2015 squad?
I think XJ's availability will be huge
