Chris Copeland Stabbed In NYC

Self Inflicted stab wounds.... This occured just after 4:00am> Strike one! He was in the middle of the street arguing with his wife> Strike two! Nothing good can happen at clubs in the middle of the night. While a stabbing is outrageous, and his wife apparently has some bad wounds - including her breast, the question is why were you there at 4:00am. The list of athletes in clubs, late night who end up arrested is known and ridiculous. Two other NBA players were arrested for obstrucing the crime scene. Hopefully Copeland and his wife get thru this okay with minimal damage and loss.

Interesting that you say "self inflicted" when that's not in that article you link - or any other article I've seen on the topic.

interesting take

I would consider having your wife out in a NYC club at 4:00am, where you already know people have guns and knives, is self inflicted. Were you out clubbing in a dangerous environment with your wife at 4:00am or were you sleeping soundly in the comfort and safety of your home? No brainer, as unfortunate as the situation is.

Thats not your decision to judge.

Come on, man. Nothing wrong at all with a guy and his wife going out and dancing the night away. If/when my wife and I do that kind of thing I view it as us having a healthy marriage and would be shocked if we were judged negatively for it.

I agree, there is nothing wrong with taking your wife out and enjoying a night on the town. However, there are some caveats in play here:
1. I do not know your age, but the 20 something generations night out in a club is different than the 30 or 40 something's version of taking your wife out dancing.
2. Would you take your wife out to a club in NYC where you have been informed by league security and multiple reports, that people carry weapons into the clubs?

Certainly being an athlete or celebrity doesn't mean you have to live like a hermit or not enjoy nightlife with your spouse. But being responsible and not placing yourself and spouse in a questionable situation is different. Bottomline, this doesn't happen if wiser decisions had been made.

Fair points. He's got to be smarter about the environments he puts himself in. Rich and famous requires a strategy for managing your personal life. That said, I don't want to turn this into a "blame the victims" thing.

That club is for the Rich and Famous and is not on any off-limits list by the league. NYC gun carry laws are pretty tough.

Also what people don't realize is the basketball players days are all backwards (rock bands have the same thing). When on the road they usually sleep late (into the afternoon) so when they get out of the locker room after 11 PM it is like when we leave work at 5 PM. That is when they go out.

So it is like you are standing outside of Ocean Prime in Denver at 9 PM and you get stabbed by a stranger and it is your fault. :lol3:

Well if the club's not on an NBA warning list and that part of his post was total bull****, then I completely go back to what I said before: no reason he shouldn't take his wife out dancing.
