Tad Boyle Contract Extension

They still don't get it

The contract is a 4 year contract that they renew every year. It costs no extra. The terms don't change except for the date. The only thing it does is allow Tad to tell recruits he is signed for the entire length of their time at CU. They have done this every year since Tad was hired. Its fine. Its no news really.

Yes they do, this isn't the same as Hawkins and pretty sure it's just a one year extension, which has happened yearly.

No, they don't. He's signed through 2019, has a terrible year, loses two players, signs two complete unknowns, recruiting has been questionable since Abatemarco left and can't close the deal on top prospects. Yet, he gets an extension. All signs point to illogical.

In that case, ok

This has happened every year. Quit overreacting.

Wow. One down year after 3 straight tournament appearances and a Pac 12 tournament championship, and people are upset by this. Ungrateful.

Chill out. He read my explanation and got it.

There is understandable trepidation over undeserved contract extensions at CU. The Hawkins disaster is still fresh in everyone's mind. The wording of the press release is the same, but the intent and the overall impact are very different. Learn to convey your points without belittling the other party of the conversation. Will save you and everyone else on this board tremendous headaches.

But this is clearly the same as Hawkins who got an extension after one decent season. Not like Tad's won 24, 24, 21, and 23 games in his first 4 years here or anything.

Didn't see your post until after, but I stand by my comments and how I presented them. Freaking out for no good reason.

If people can't separate or see the difference between Boyle and Hawkins, then they deserve to be belittled for being upset.

Awesome. I'm still hopeful that Tad will get his focus back in recruiting and he's a helluva coach.

the only two posters making any comparison between Boyle and Hawkins are both going out of their ways to draw attention to the differences.

exactly, I don't even know why this is brought up. I guess the better question is, what happens if Tad team struggles again next year?

I didn't say anything about Hawkins . Tad's recruiting and offense have been questionable lately. I love him as a coach, but it's the truth and some of you on here can't handle it.

I'd be happier if Tad said that he felt like an extension and increase wasn't warranted this year and turned it down.

how would that help recruiting, the outside perception of the program, or, well, anything besides your feelings?

My bad..... You're right. All the great players we were able to recruit the last 2 years were watching Tad's contract situation before they committed! I'm confident that DeRon Davis is doing the same.

i just saw that Zimmerman committed to UNLV...... UNLV coach has to win next year to keep his job! I respect the fact that Boyle received extensions after his great seasons ...... Seems out of whack to reward him for poor seasons! I'm just saying....... Last year we were worried about losing him to Kansas or Texas. I'm not sure he was on the list this season.

One poor season, after one of the best stretches in school history.

I wonder if some other schools were sniffing around.

One of the best stretches? For anyone under the age of 60 or so, This is unprecedented.
