And this one to make it official from the CU WBB feed:

So we traded straight up. Cool.
Unfortunately not really. Arielle is eligible immediately wherever she ends up; Ariana has to sit out a year. Arielle is an athletic 6'1" forward who garnered PAC12 freshman honors the first season she played; Ariana is a 5'9" guard who garnered good reviews coming out of high school but didn't play much in her freshman year at Louisville. When I saw this, I was hoping Ariana WAS a straight up trade and would be a good frontcourt player. Ariana will be a good addition to the back court and enhance guard play but won't replace what Arielle would have brought to the team.

Additionally, Freeman will be in the same class as Leonard and Robinson and combined with the other two incoming freshmen will give CU five in the class. Not the type of balance I like, but if she can make the team better than it's not bad to have her here.

Now, what surprised me was that Linda didn't want any jucos that could play immediately. IMHO the juniors-to-be aren't that great and there is only one senior now on the roster (Jamee Swan). So effectively the team will need to get a lot out of the sophomores and freshmen in the upcoming season to find success.

Her mom & dad are both CU grads, so she's pretty pumped. She posted this on twitter last night:

Welcome to Ms. Freeman joining the Buffs!

(Just to get the links into this thread), cubuffs.com article on her transfer- http://www.cubuffs.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=600&ATCLID=210044694 , and buffzone.com also has something- http://www.buffzone.com/buffzonetop...ns-basketball-buffs-add-ariana-freeman-roster .)

From the buffzone article, for future reference, "The Buffs will have three scholarships to give for the Class of 2016. One of those scholarships is set to go to Bria Rice, a 5-foot-8 point guard from Seattle who gave a verbal commitment to CU at the end of March.".

From the Buffs announcement, I don't this this is a verbal. This is a signed to Colorado.

Looking at her Instagram account, her teammates at Louisville were saying don't go after she posted photos of the mountains from her visit to CU.

I hope she becomes an excellent guard for the Buffs. Linda has to recruit better than the players we have in the junior class, as Mark said. We still need some front court players in the worst way.

Daily Camera has an article (written by Brian Howell) regarding Ms. Freeman coming to the Buffs- http://www.buffzone.com/buffzonetop...asketball-academics-helped-draw-freeman-buffs .

Among other things, nice to hear an alum parent being a big factor in a transfer, and that the academic program (for her the College of Media) is a/ the big plus to her. Basketball-wise, can never have too many aggressive players who put stress on the other team's defense via the drive, which sounds like a strength of hers.

Definitely liked reading that academics played a big part in her decision.

As far as I know, Arielle has not verballed or signed with Louisville.
