Offseason fluff, courtesy of Kyle Ringo

One of his better pieces, actually. However, he has set the bar extraordinarily low.

I'm perfectly fine with a "fluff" piece. A little positivity ain't a bad thing.

So, bitch when the Buffs get hammered by local media, bitch when they get friendly press?

I didn't notice where Ringo really set any bar. It was a fluff piece, and CU needs more fluffers right now, IMO.

There is a point here.

These articles are fluff, but the program needs more sunshine pumpers in the media to reach the casual fan. Most of us have an idea of where the team is, even if we struggle to come up with consensus on our finish this year.

We will probably be in the stands this year hell or high water. Attendance is dipping and I'm not sure how instate recruits see the program. Ugh.

We need to prove it on the field this year in W\Ls

I nominate Slider for Buff fluffer.....

I didn't read the article, I can guess, somebody is unblockable, somebody is catching everything thrown their way and somebody has an unreal backpedal. Just win some friggin' games already.

Nothing in the column (it is a column, not an article) new. He could have read any number of threads here and cut and pasted the entire thing.

It is however a positive piece for a program that can use all the positive attention it can get.

There was none of that. It was mostly about Mac and the change in culture, his hard work, that we are better prepared. Stuff like that. Nothing outrageous. Rings pretty much believes Mac will turn the corner in the next year or two.

It was a softball piece. Not much meat there for the folks who follow the Buffs closely, but a good PR piece for the casual fan who takes a look at the sports page and wonders what to make of the Buffs.

There are a lot of reasons from his first 29 months in Boulder to believe CU got it right when it hired MacIntyre. His shrewd decision to make changes to his defensive coaching staff this offseason is one near the top of the list.

Softball article, softball AB comments.

MacIntyre was criticized by many for bringing most of his staff with him. But to be considered shrewd by Ringo, all you have to do is inevitably replace some of them. There's also the matter of Neinas, whose record shouldn't have gotten him here or kept him here.

I'd say the article falls a little short of being merely soft - it's leaky.

I think it is more about identifying problems and fixing them which is what he did with Baer. If you are going to criticize him bringing Baer with him you also have to give him credit for bringing Lindgren. The only problem I have with Mac at the moment is recruiting but other than that you can obviously tell a difference in the passion of the players and the commitment.

I'm not sure what Ringo was supposed to do any differently. He is - accurately in my opinion - taking the pulse of the program as it sits right now. Going into 2015, there are many reasons for optimism. He points out - accurately - that if the team performs as many think it could, that the overall level of recruiting should see a nice uptick. He also points out that if they don't improve as many think they should, that it would be bad for the program, long term. Again, nothing earth-shattering. Just something to regurgitate stuff we already know.

I understand where a lot of folks are coming from on this: We've heard it all before. It is a softball piece, but anything other than a softball piece at this time of the year would smell of an agenda.

I have come to the conclusion that Duff/Slider and the boys are a reflection of the thoughts of the true CU fans. For me the impact has been to save me $4000 by not adding 2 season tickets and trying to bring 2 more people rather I dropped 2 seats and just kept 2 for my wife and me. I like/need fluff cause I have no real insight into the program and use this site and rivals to keep me connected.Constant sniping leads me to think I am not the right fit to continue the 4 hour drive each way to be surrounded by fans that think so poooof my school team and coach.i have not shared this cause it's my own option-- have to decide if I am done

I would recommend staying away from Internet Fan boards then. Almost by definition you are going to get a polar opposites of opinions. This is not unique to CU - Look at Nebraska with Pellini - he won 9 games a year but really polarized the fan base - some loved him and some hated him with very little in the middle. Now take a team that has not had a winning season in a decade and the present HC is 1-17 in conference and you certainly are going to have critics...and you have some supporters.

To defend Duff (although he can defend himself quite well) I think he tries to be fair but also want to be "the voice of reason"!

I glanced through the piece, very fluff but good and accurate. I talked with a former player that was part of Hawkins (2 years), Embree (2 years) and MacIntyre (1 year) teams and he said MacIntyre knows how to run a team and make it better. He talks with players still on the team and he said the culture went from 1/2 the group being all-in/bad cookies to only a couple guys that are bad cookies. Even the best teams have a handful of guys that just don't give a *****. MacIntyre has these guys bought in. He also focuses on multiple fundamentals; while winning and football are the most important to generating revenue and fans, building fundamentals to these young men being successful is also key.

Kyle is dead on, unlike Hawkins or Embree, there are signs MacIntyre has the ability to coach this team to success. His downfall lies in recruiting and being behind the other teams talent wise. Making sure this next class is impactful and can fill holes, especially at LB!!! I believe we will see quite an awesome next 12 months in CU football that will cause the people that fell off the wagon to get picked up in the new luxury bus.

As for the fluffing up MacIntyre, yes he is a nice guy but he's not a Mike Bohn nice guy. He's a Rick George nice guy. Do your job, make yourself and others better. They are a good fit as AD and football coach.

Special Teams, honestly quit bitching unless you are going to bring someone on board that you think impacts this team in a better light. Neinas' ST groups have been average, but not as abysmal as some try to lay on him.

2014 Pac 12 STE: 5. Utah, 22. Washington, 35. Oregon, 36. USC, 38. UCLA, 48. Arizona, 51. Cal, 55. OSU, 67. Arizona St, 68. Colorado, 71. Stanford, 127. Wazzou

Definitely at low end of Pac 12 but not like defense where we are 100 away from Top Pac 12 teams.

Good thing we have never talked about replacements for Neinas to improve STs and recruiting. Has never happened. Not once.

Wait a minute, so you're going to drop 2 season tickets because people complain too much on an anonymous fan message board? Wow, what a p**sy.
