The Dave Logan Paradox: he'd have to give up his HS coaching job and probably his job on 850 KOA in order to coach at the college level, and there are rumors that he's uninterested at anything less than a coordinator level job. But he's not going to jump to a P5 coordinator job from HS HC.

Hire Logan as our ST coordinator and recruiter for Colorado.

I asked Logan about this a couple weeks ago at the Broncos draft, he said he is uninterested in leaving HS for any position. Plans to coach HS for 10 or so more years and then retire.
Said he had thought about it before but just didn't think he could leave the High School game, loves it too much.

He also said Brady Daigh was his favorite player he's ever coached.
He was extremely candid. Really nice guy.

But he also loves to entertain these questions and keep his name out there. It's PR stuff that help drive his endorsement deals. Name recognition is important for him within the state.

Logan is the perfect Colorado HS football coach. He has found his calling.

Could be true, but this wasn't an interview or anything like that, I don't even think he knew I covered the Buffs honestly haha.

Logan is a very candid and down to earth guy. As an assistant coach whose team scrimmages CC every pre season, I've spoken with him a number of times, and he's always been extremely nice and conversational, never once "big timing" me. He's a hell of a football coach and one of the best play-by-play announcers out there. Zero reason to leave his gig.

Why do so many of us not want him as a coach at CU?

(serious question, I'm in the dark on the subject)

It is in no way a slam on DL (or you). He has a pretty good gig where he is, despite his acumen at the HS level, he probably would not be ready for a coordinator role or HC (the most likely gigs that would pay enough to get him) and we have had this discussion about a gazillion times.

Logan makes well over a $1million per year in all of his activities (Drive Time Radio Host, Endorsements, Broncos Play by Play and the Team Dave Logan). He is not going to give that up to coach at CU. That has always been the conundrum, Logan would have to give up too much to go the assistant coach experience route and today would lose to much money.

Plus Logan is in his 60s - no longer an up and comer.

I didn't mean the conversation with you. That one was a firm denial. He doesn't do that with the media. There's an industry of Dave Logan that must be maintained by making sure his name is out there whenever possible.

If that's what he wanted, he should have paid his dues on the college level. I'm sure Barnett or someone over the years would have hired him as a WR Coach and given him an opportunity to work his way up. Barnett, for example, had actual lower level college experience as the HC at Fort Lewis but had to pay his dues under McCartney for 8 years as a position coach before becoming OC.

So, when Logan says he'd only take a CU job if it was to be a coordinator it is total spin as if his hat would be in the ring... when the truth is that him getting hired as a coordinator would never be on the table. It's a totally safe position to take. From a PR standpoint, it's brilliant. Keeps your name out there as a legitimate option for a OC job (or even HC) despite it not being based in reality. Meanwhile, keep making your money endorsing banks, home contractors and whatnot while broadcasting Broncos games... stuff you couldn't do if you coached at CU.

P.S. That's my last post here. I have a general policy I broke where I refuse to discuss coaching "candidates" for CU who are only brought up due to in-state and university ties and would never be mentioned in relation to any other P5 program.

Having the conversation 50 times or more every year about a hs coach who has never coached college ball and having to hear about how he's the savior has gotten really tiresome.

I'm sure he's a great guy and all that but dumb threads about played out subjects repeated over and over and over cause folks much rage.

QUOTE's=Colobuffs21;1795611]People on this board and in Colorado hate Creek...[/QUOTE]

That's the dumbest thing posted in this thread. Dave Logan name came up for the CU job far before he took a position at Cherry Creek. The fact the Cherry Creek blows and everybody hates them has nothing to do with this. The Logan to CU is the brain cold of Irv Brown, who I believe was his baseball coach at CU, and has since been champion by much of the brainless Denver sports media. I have never once heard Dave Logan expressed any interest in the head coaching position at CU.

Look, I don't give a frogs fat ass where he coaches there, it's even different where you coach even in hs. It's just true and yeah Colorado has good programs but not many. I'm sure he knows football, it's not that.

how do grown men, many years removed from high school, harbor a hatred for a ****ing high school?

it isn't that.

it is the interminable constant blather every year about how logan could save CU. it is so ****ing played out and boring. i'm going to start editing any threads on this subject to make them more interesting to me.

Comes up every year and is a little dumber every year.

We should have a general policy. Just because a guy played for CU doesn't mean he should be coaching for CU. PERIOD

Now if a guy is a successful coach at another program with a track record that indicates he would be an upgrade to our staff then an "Oh by the way he played at CU" would be alright.

Also the only 60+ year old guys we should be thinking about coaching at CU have last names like Sabin and Miles, and they aren't coming so let's give the subject up.
