Reported Offers: Nevada, Northern Arizona, Sacramento State, San Diego State, San Jose State, UNLV

MaxPreps: hardly played varsity as a sophomore, completing 1/3 passes. As a junior, 66% completion with 12 TDs to 5 INTs. Also played varsity baseball as a sophomore along with averaging 7 & 5 in basketball so far this season.

After watching his film, I have no idea why he's not rated anywhere. He did do a Nike Eugen camp last summer, so it's not like he's a complete mystery guy.

Maybe just because Antelope is northeast of Sacramento, so he's in a very under-recruited area?

I really like this prospect. Let's keep an eye on this one.

Recruiting has been heating up for him a bit, now has offers from SDSU, Sac St, Nevada, and UNLV.

Kind of reminds me of Montez beingin a major state for talent but being under the radar at least in part b/c he plays in a lower profile part of the state. Can't tell if he is a true dual threat but he is obviously quite athletic with the sports he plays and his ability to throw on the run. Seems to have a lot of natural talent and upside. I hope we get a good QB in the next month at the latest.

I like that he plays from under center a bit. Usually means he has better footwork and sees the field better than somebody only playing shotgun like a lot of kids these days.

Says he thinks we may be the next to offer and they're going to see him throw at some point this week (unless they already did, I can't tell). Backup plan for Noyer perhaps?

Scout's Huffman says on May 20th that CU and Utah have gone up there to see him throw. http://recruiting.scout.com/story/1547982-the-opening-oakland-interview-montel-aaron

I'll reiterate that I like this prospect a lot. Tall, great feet, can scoot, and has a live arm. Not as polished as a lot of guys, so I guess it comes down to what the coaches are looking for. Personally, I like recruiting for upside and building a QB depth chart of similar guys in the mold of what Urban Meyer looks for in a QB... from Smith to Tebow to the group he put together at Ohio State. Athletic QBs with size who can make plays with their legs and also throw the deep ball. I think that wins more college football games than a Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Warren Moon or Troy Aikman type with their surgical accuracy as pocket passers.

Of course, everyone's looking for the next Aaron Rodgers or Steve Young as the best of both worlds, but those guys are incredibly rare.

After a weighty debate with myself on the pros and cons of both sides of your argument, I've decided I'd take any of the guys on your list in our next class.

I should add that I actually agree with your point though, and like the prospect here as well. Just being a douche.

Who wouldn't?

Point I'm making is that Tennessee won its national championship with Tee Martin, not Peyton Manning.

After looking at some highlights, looks very solid. At this point I would take any qb Nevada is offering as the last handful of so likely could have started for the buffs over that same time period.

Isn't that your second Tee Martin mention in about a week? That's probably two more mentions than he's had in his hometown in the last week. I think you may feel something for the guy. :wink2:
