Vanderbilt Rape Trial

This doesn't sound good. Not that it ever does.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Testimony during a rape trial of two ex-Vanderbilt football players Tuesday revealed that at least four of their teammates knew an unconscious female student was in distress but did not call for help.

A former roommate of one of the players being tried testified that he awoke during the alleged attack but was too scared to do anything about it.

Four former football players are charged with raping an unconscious coed. All have pleaded not guilty.

McKenzie testified that Vandenburg passed out condoms, encouraging players to have sex with the woman who was lying on a floor.

"He was like amped, demanding," McKenzie told jurors of Vandenburg's demeanor. "He was hyper, like he was coaching us to do whatever."

Awful stuff, but sadly I'm not surprised. There seems to be at least 1 of these rape cases involving college football players every year.

that's a terrible black eye for one of the few SEC schools that I think of having some self respect. thoughts for the victim.

Good thing James Franklin got out of there ahead of this so he could clean up the public image of the Penn State program.

Them's boys are gonna live out the Date Rape song from Sublime. Have fun in prison.

So vile that I can't even enjoy my normal "it happened to someone other than CU" happy-place moment that I normally experience when players from other programs get in trouble. Even a reference to the Fulmer Index would be in bad taste.

ABC's 20/20 is doing an hour feature on the case right now. Pretty shocking surveillance video just shown.

What did it show? I missed 20:20

What buffnik posted. It's towards the end of that clip. The assault was bad enough, but this Brandon Vandenberg's attempt to cover everything up was so damn disgusting. She can't remember anything, he tries to talk her into protecting the football players, assures her nothing happened, he says it was her fault for getting too drunk, and then after all that, tries to hook up with her. What a ****in scumbag.

Also, their conviction didn't take because of a bs mistrial
