Thought I remembered years ago he donated the weight room to his alma mater. But possible I am not remembering correctly

Maybe so. Just wondered how involved he could be if he lived in Houston. I listen to a lot less sports talk than I used to but I do like listening to him. He tells some good stories but I can almost sense his disappointment in CU's inability to be relevant in the college football world, especially in an area that wants to talk football year round.

Yet Johnson, who turns 35 on Dec. 4, never strayed too far from Carlsbad. He donated the money to purchase so much new equipment for the Carlsbad weight room that his name hangs over the front door.

"No Carlsbad athlete has given more back to this campus than Ted," former football assistant coach Denny Cooper said. "He wasn't the fastest guy, but he was big and strong, and he played the game all-out on every play."

That's awesome. Seems like a good guy on the radio.

Thanks for the info SD. Very cool, had no idea it was Ted Johnson's alma mater.
