allbuffs season tickets?

OK, here's my crazy idea...

We, as a group, buy a pair of season tickets in the South Horseshoe. No annual donation required, just two tickets. The total cost per year would be $470.00 I'll throw in the first $25.

Then, if any allbuffs poster wants them for any game, the seats are available on a first come-first served basis. If nobody claims them, we sell the tickets and put the funds into an account to offset the cost of the tickets next year.

Any registered allbuffs poster can claim them, but preference would probably be given to out-of-state members. Let's face it, most of us already have our season tickets anyway.

I view this as a way for us, as a community, to support CU athletics and provide a service for our members.

What say you?

i actually like that idea, but would modify it to specify that there shall never, ever be any red worn in to folsom, ever, while using the tickets.

I thought about that afterwards. Yes, that would be a requirement. No red - ever.

No. Even Bama Charlie must wear Black & Gold if he's planning on using these tickets.

Put some aloe on there and stop your whining.

OK, so does this mean I can count on the LB/UBT clan and Jens to chip in for the tickets?

Nope.

Just to clarify - the AllBuffs poster would not be paying for them?

Also, as an alternative to selling unclaimed tix, how about donating them to a charitable cause, like Big Bros/Big Sisters?

I'll toss in $25

This sounds like a good idea -- but I am not incredibly keen on the whole "first come, first served" idea.

First come/first served-- when? If I claim dibs on the whole season right now-- have I completed the requirements to be the first to come, and therefore the first to be served?

I would propose some type of lottery system. Everybody who wants the tickets goes into a lottery- and the lottery winner gets the tickets.

I like the donating unused tix to charity idea. I also like the idea of a lottery. We'd have to think about when to hold the lottery so it's early enough that people can make travel plans but not too early.

About Beltway's first comment, I think the tickets should be discounted for the AB poster, but they should still pay something so that we can have a head start on tickets for the next season.

Also, to use tickets there would be a mandatory Sackygate attendance policy and we should probably come up with something they have to wear into the stadium as well, such as an AB shirt or something.

Great comments by all. Let's do this - if you think this is a good idea and you'd be willing to throw in $25 for the effort, just respond in this thread. Once we get enough pledges to buy the tickets, we'll make a determination as to how they are disbursed. Fair?

I´d settle that before the tickets are actually bought to potentially avoid bad blood. Just an outsider´s advice as money is where the fun stops for many people.

All we're getting at this point is an expression of willigness to contribute. If, at the end of the day, somebody's pissed off about the process, he/she can always back out. I suspect that won't be the case, though. We're not trying to rob anybody here and the cost is relatively low. I think we need to know if we have enough money pledged to get the tickets first, then have a discussion as to how best to disburse the tickets. On the surface, just having them available to other members at no cost or at reduced cost is a good thing. So now we just need to know if people are willing to pony up. We need 19 people at $25 each to buy the tickets. If we don't get that, we won't buy the tickets at all so a discussion of what to do with them is moot.

yes you can count on the lb/ubt clan for a contribution. additionally, you can count on ubt to not wear crimson, even though we have a standing commitment to sit elsewhere when we do come home to folsom.

:yeahthat: except for the shirt. i think the tickets (except in the case of charty donation) should be distributed at sackygate. in the case of charity donation,i think that we should steer the recipients to our tailgate as a means ofgoodwill, but it can be up to them to attend. weather could be a deterrent to wearing a traveling ab shirt, but we may want to think of handing out buttons?

Philly is in and votes for giving them away to big bro big sis.... or an out of stater allbuffer (myself excluded) that might be visiting.

We're almost halfway there. Don't stop now folks.

I'm in. I like the concept and I also agree with Jens & Slade that a clear, fair and well defined process needs to be created so people don't get their panties in a bunch. Feuds about money are the worst, they can spin out of control quickly and do horrible damage to friendships. I don't want to see our allbuffs family lose even one member because of this idea (as well intended as it may be).

I'm in. But my vote is to figure out a way to get them to people who would not be there otherwise. The Big Brother thing is definitely worth exploring.

Great idea. I love the idea of Allbuffs doing something to support the athletic department.

(And we are so getting a whole table at next year's recruiting luncheon...)

I'm in for that too. Too few of us there this year, although as proud Allbuffers we have to be loud, drunk, disorderly, and scream 'This one's for Sacky!' while throwing Natty Lights at anyone with a hint of red on. Oh, and say '****' alot.

FC was trying to put together the table for the recruiting luncheon. I'll leave it up to him to put together the kickoff luncheon. That's when we peg him with the natty lites.

OK, more than halfway there now. This is good. Once we have enough commitments, we'll work out the details on who the tickets go to. I would be in favor of having them available for allbuffs posters, particularly out-of-state folks. I don't know of another BBS that actually owns a set of season tickets.

I will contribute to the cause. Although I am hoping by the time the 2008 season rolls around, I will have my own season tickets.

You can count me in for $25 as I like the idea. I will not need the tickets as i have season ticks. Need a pool drawing for all who want the ticks with a random drawing. Maybe a month before the game?

We only need four more commitments!

This is awesome. Thanks to everybody who's committed so far.

Count me in

How about outside-the-front-range members?? :smile2:

I would propose some type of lottery system. Everybody who wants the tickets goes into a lottery- and the lottery winner gets the tickets.

I would propose that we prioritize based on number of posts on Allbuffs... :smile2:
