QUICKLY: The University of Colorado women’s soccer team takes its first out-of-state trip this week to No. 11 Brigham Young for an evening match on Friday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. MDT. The Buffs then return home to host New Mexico on Sunday, Aug. 30 at 1 p.m. MDT. CU opened its 2015 campaign going 1-0-1 last weekend, earning a 1-1 draw in two overtimes against Colorado State and defeating Colorado College, 3-0 in the first two matches of the Colorado Cup.

COLORADO VS. BRIGHAM YOUNG: The Buffs are 2-3-1 all-time against the Cougars. Each team has met in the last two NCAA Tournaments with CU eliminating BYU both times. In 2013, the Buffs topped the Cougars 2-1 in the second round at a neutral site and last season, CU claimed a 2-0 shutout in the opening round in Boulder. Friday’s match will mark the first time CU has visited Provo since 2006.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS: The Cougars opened their season with a 2-0 victory over California and are ranked No. 11 in the nation. Their second match against Stanford was canceled due to unplayable conditions. BYU returns eight starters, including Ashley Hatch, who tallied 18 goals and six assists last season and already has one goal this year. Head coach Jennifer Rockwood, now in her 21st season with the Cougars will look to lead her team to its fourth straight West Coast Conference title.

COLORADO VS. NEW MEXICO: The Buffaloes are unbeaten in two matches against the Lobos, holding a 1-0-1 all-time record. The two teams have not squared off since the 2007 season.

SCOUTING THE LOBOS: New Mexico is 1-2 in three matches this season with its two losses coming against top-ranked and defending National Champion Florida State, 3-1 and No. Texas Tech, 1-0. The Lobos earned their first win with a 1-0 shutout over New Mexico State. NM is under the leadership of first-year head coach Heather Dyche.

Best of luck to the soccer team in both its matches this weekend, with the match with the #11 Cougars definitely being the marquee match-up of the non-conference schedule!

This does appear to be the toughest non-conference match on the schedule this season. And of course BYU will be highly motivated as the Buffs eliminated them from the last two NCAA tournament.

I'm going to need to check to see if I get BYUTV. I've got 2 streams going already (1190 AM show and the VB match).

Cross by BYU on net and saved the the defender passes it to a BYU player in front of the net but just wide. CU gets very lucky

I don't get the channel but they have one of the best feeds that I've seen

Hooks with a chance for a breakaway but poked away at the last second

Beautiful pass by the buffs and a great opportunity on the shot, but just wide. Their best chance of the night. About 16 minutes in

BYU shot from far out is over the net. 24 minutes in and it's back and forth between the two teams

BYU with control in the box. She gets around 3 buffs for a shot that makes it 2-0 BYU

Buffs with a great chance but the pass is just a tad too far and goes out. Seems like one of those nights for the Buffs.

Knew this would be a tough one tonight. Really good BYU team that wants this as payback in a big way after the Buffs knocked their ranked teams out of the last 2 NCAA tourneys.

Half time here as BYU leads 2-0. Buffs had a few chances but clearly outplayed.

I'm getting slightly concerned about the way the team has come out the gate this year....They seem very timid on the attack, honestly they seem to be playing off their back foot and playing really reactive moreso than proactive... I thought they would be stronger out of the gate this year.

56 minutes in and not a whole lot going on right now. Just back and forth between the two teams at midfield

Once again a chance by the Buffs is blown. A pass that Wouk have sent the player in alone was just slightly off and nothing comes from it
