What's your breaking point to when Mike Mac has worn out his time as HC ?

It's easy for all of us to say "fire him" but what would that really do to the program ?
I'm sure CU would lose many players including some of the ones who have verbally given their commitment to Mac for 2016. Would firing him set the football program back another 3 year cycle ?

If RG were to let him go I'd hope he would be the type of AD who would already have a replacement sewn up who would make a splash ... or would he ?? Who would want to coach a school who would have been through three coaches in six years ?

Personally I feel that CU must win their next three games. A .500 record in OOC would not be acceptable but I suppose even if CU were to lose to csu RG would still look at the PAC 12 record. What if CU does go 2 and 2 but then finds 3 wins in the PAC 12 ? I guess 5-8 would keep his job ??

Naw - this is a nice job now. The facilities will be top notch, the roster has older players, and RG will likely throw cash at the problem.

Signature Win.

He doesn't have one. If he doesn't have one soon he's going to be done. Simply put, he needs to beat someone that he's not supposed to beat.

I agree with the new facilities and playing in the Pac 12 is always a plus, or in our case a minus cause we will get our asses handed to us.
The players are older, NOT better, there is not enough cash to bring a winner here to run this program.

How about we beat the teams we are supposed to beat first? We seem a long way from a signature win!

Thats true. That Oklahoma win that Deez Nutts got back in '06 probably got him extended and allowed us to justify keeping him around a year longer than we should have. It could go either way.

Yes a signature win could show we are improving and moving in the right direction, however losing to teams we should beat, would just make that signature win a fluke.

There are still Cubs fans.

We have plenty of people who buy the Rockies Kool-aid every year.

Sheep fans continue to believe that they will get to a major bowl and invited to a P5 conference.

We are a long ways from that ridiculously bad.

I used to be one of the Kool-aid bunch, now I have lost that current optimism but I do believe that sometime in the future, and sooner than later we will be good again. It is hard now but I'm sticking with it because it will be that much sweeter when it happens.

I agree, except after our performance last night Im not so sure about the sooner than later part.

Signature wins are non-events assigned after the fact.

When we beat Oklahoma I thought we were on our way again after the post scandal malaise that dominated Barnett's last few seasons. I think a lot of us felt that way. Oklahoma was a top 5 team. There was no assigning after the fact.

Yeah, no Kool Aid here. Other than a change in DC there was no other noteworthy event that foreshadowed a difference between last seasons results and this years expectations. Unless you count hope.

It sucks. But thats just the way it is.

Except that in college, players run out of eligibility and we were not losing many, as compared to the average (or mean I suppose). Does a year older make you better?

Generally, a lot of improvement is expected from year 1 to 2 performances of individuals. But we have a lot of guys in year 3 and 4 of Playing Time. I didn't expect Spruce to make a jump. But I did expect the rest of the WR corp to (for example).

I'd expect our offense to be slightly better this year than last (minimum). Last night was a regression and I think it could prove an anomoly.

That's a great example of what I'm talking about. That win signified nothing. Great game, I was there. It was not a turning point. A nice speed bump as we plummeted to new lows.

^^correct^^
Give me 5 wins against teams we should beat, not one against a team we shouldn't.

In general I agree with your premise but tend to file that under the 'hope' category because it doesn't always work out. Additionally, thats probably more true in programs where there has been consistency in staffing and recruiting. Its probably far less true in programs that are distressed. Make your own conclusions.

I turned it off after Powell's fumble right before the end of the first half. The game wasn't in doubt, but it just wasn't worth it at that point. Props to those who stayed up to the end. I'm probably gonna take the long weekend off from Buffs and maybe even football. This team is ruining college football for me. Depressing.

A breaking point is what it is. You don't know it until it happens.

With Hawkins, mine wasn't until the 2009 game at KSU. You'd think it would have been CSU or Toledo to start that season, but I can remember being into it for the games at WVU and UT and saw some good things followed by Hansen giving us an exciting win against a pretty good KU squad. But when the Buffs went to KSU the next week and were completely listless, Hawkins lost me.

With Embree, I was close after the CSU opener in 2012. After hearing all offseason about how they were installing the Okie Lite style offense with a fast pace and spread run attack... when they threw away the flash cards and scrapped it after a couple series I knew they were in over their heads in a big way. But it was the next week against Sacramento State when Embree totally lost me. In the 4th quarter with the Buffs still leading, Sac State mounted a drive and got to around the 50. Those who were with me will remember me getting up, saying that they've quit and are going to lose, and me walking out of Folsom before the game ended with Sac State completing that game winning drive. That's when I knew I'd hit the breaking point.

With MacIntyre, last night came close. I'm not there yet, but I don't think it will take much more. I can cheer for bad teams that play their asses off while the coaches have them ready to play and put them in good position to compete... even if they're overmatched. That was last season and I had my one year in my life as a sports fan where I acknowledged "moral victory" as actually being a thing. But last night I saw a team that found ways to beat itself, seemed listless way too often, and frequently turtled when Hawaii turned up their intensity & emotion. I can pick out some players who could be singled out as total exceptions because they clearly were nutting up, but the CU team did not. They looked like losers and, unsurprisingly, lost. I've got it in me to give them the opportunity to file this away and play up to their capability. But I need to see it next week and then I need to continue to see it.

I was watching Utah and Mich last night prior to our game and I was impressed by how prepared each team was for the early season. Especially Mich, given that Harbaugh has had this group for well less than a year. That is a sign of intense, excellent practice management and coaching....the utter focus on attention to detail early.

We start slow at the beginning of each year. There are always lots of mistakes. We were the superior team last night and we found a million ways to shoot ourselves. We will be a good team this year. However, were is the early preparation? Why does this always happen? I think our players are good...certainly superior to the MW. Where is the deficiency in our coaching?

The players absolutely better than they were in 2011 or 2013.

People thought we wouldn't get **** for a DC, then Leavitt was hired. Chill.
