Fairly weak schedule of games this week, lots of the better programs playing body bag games or at least relative walk overs.

Most interesting match up of the week looks like #19 Oklahoma at #23 Tennessee.

Biggest is #7 Oregon going to #5 Michigan State. It could be argued that the Ducks win last year was what put them in the playoff over the B12 teams.

#14 LSU at #25 Mississpipi State features an LSU team that the "experts" can't figure out. Some think they are ranked way to low, others to high. With their opener cancelled last week we will see if they have an answer to their QB question.

Good rivalry game in Iowa vs Iowa State

More locally #24 Utah could be in a trap game against a Utah State squad with a solid defense and the Sheep get to play Minnesota before their game with the Buffs.

I see OU winning that game by a couple scores. LSU never seems to be able to take that next step at the QB position and after losing their DC I wonder if that defense will maintain the swagger it has had which was always the best in the country IMO.

I think OU should kill them but Stoops has a nasty habit of figuring out how to blow his season by losing inopportune games LSU is really an unknown. Huge amounts of talent but missing players at a couple key spots.

Are the bolded games the ones you will be watching?

Most of them, probably. Just trying to point out the most interesting games so they don't get lost in the list.

Only pointed out ISU/Iowa because "El Assico" made me laugh though.

Real bush league move by FS1 to not have the broadcast crew on-site for FAU-Miami....they are doing the broadcast from California...

Mods,

Go ahead and merge this into TD Buffs thread if you want just to keep it to one thead.

TD ... thanks for posting. I'd rep you, but I guess a "like" is all I can do.

Does anyone here know if Utah St is supposed to be any good this year ... or is this game likely to be a beatdown?

Utah's favored by 12, so possibly a beatdown. Utah State struggled against Southern Utah last week. They have Chuckie Keaton back, but he didn't have a great game.

Thanks. One game not on your list (for good reason no doubt) is Eastern Michigan (my undergrad alma mater) vs. Wyoming on Root Sports Rocky Mtn at 2MT. Yeah ... we suck ... but the opportunity to see EMU out here is a rare occurrence. :(

My bad. I take the list from USA Today because it's easy to copy and paste, I guess they keep it to mostly P5 schools.

I think OU should kill them but Stoops has a nasty habit of figuring out how to blow his season by losing inopportune games LSU is really an unknown. Huge amounts of talent but missing players at a couple key spots.

The land thieves have Perrine and Mixon as the primary rb's, with another 4* (Ross) in the wings, yet they've fallen in love with the passing game.

Unless they make a quick 180, they're resting their hopes on a walk on qb starting in front of 105k who are gonna be juiced for this game.

Long story short - I wouldn't bet against the vols this saturday.

Touchdown, Utah State. 7-7 in the 2nd. Utah does not want this team to be hanging around late into this game.

Utah/Utah St. looked bad for Utah St. early, lost a guy on the first play for targeting then gave up a quick TD, but now 7-7 at the top of the 2nd.

Utah state has some kids who have won a lot of games over the past few years.

They come into the game with that little brother chip on their shoulders. For Utah the focus in state is BYU, easier for them to overlook USU, could be a big mistake.

Utah looks bigger and faster but even with a lead aren't impressing. Hard to tell if this is because they are playing lousy or if Utah State is playing up.

Utah needs to protect the QB better in the PAC or he is going to get killed, not getting much time to throw, almost threw a pick on the last possession that would have given Utah State great field position (CB dropped it)

14-14

Keeton is a pretty good college QB, like to see a guy like him playing for the Buffs.

Maybe, just maybe, Utah State is a decent team?

They look like it, and have for the past few years.

They have a solid defense and a QB who can be effective passing and running. That combination will make you a dangerous team.

I think it is fair to say that at most positions Utah has better talent but a well coached, fundamentally sound team with some play makers can overcome that.

By the way watching the halftime show with the clips of Oregon playing against Eastern Washington. Those uni's look like somebody ate a bunch of highliter markers and threw up on the screen.

Good lord Miami looks awful. FAU looks like it has a nice stadium by the way.

All Utah state was missing last year was a QB and now that they have Keaton back they will challenge Boise for top in the MWC.

Maybe, just maybe, Utah State is a decent team?

They've been consistently solid for a while now.

With the population growth and the growth in the number of kids participating in high school football over the past couple decades (with the number of college programs staying relatively static), it stands to reason that the talent difference between the good G5 teams and the non-elite P5 isn't all that wide.

@TDbuff - thanks for posting all that. Nice to have a thread that lists all of the televised games. (y)

No problem, feel free to merge it onto Mtn's thread, or whatever's easiest. I don't know whether to bump this thread because I'm proud of what I copied and pasted or to just post in the other thread because that's where the action is.
