The Buffs have their 2nd match of the day at 6:00 MT against the host Rice Owls in the final match of the Rice Adidas Invitational.

Looks like Rice should give the Buffs their best test of the weekend, as, like the Buffs, they've defeated both Sam Houston State and Louisiana Lafayette, although Sam Houston did take them to 5 sets in the tournament's 1st match of the day today. (The Buffs have swept both these opponents this weekend.)

A very short preview on Rice from the article before this weekend (http://www.cubuffs.com//ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=600&ATCLID=210332292)-
"...
Rice, the tournament host, has a 5-2 record (Note- now 7-2) to start the season. A pair of Owls are averaging over 3.00 kills per set: Leah Mikesky (3.45) and Chelsey Harris (3.48). As a team, RU is hitting .254 and are holding its opponents to a .213 hitting percentage. Kimberly Vaio is averaging a team-best 3.69 digs per set and McKay Kyle is posting 0.90 blocks per set for the Owls.

I am watching the live stream. Gametracker is ahead of the live stream. From first set, looks to be a tough match.

Two dinks over the net. Buffs need to be prepared for it.
That lack of coverage of tips by the Buffs has been driving me nuts when watching matches at Coors for years. I don't understand why that is not something the coaches work on with the team.

One more point has been the same thing. Buffs not serving well or defending well. Need to turn it around.

8 service errors so far, no aces. Team stats look like the match is closer than it actually is.

Rice had a hitting % in set 2 of .483. That should always win. CU hit .175 in set 1 to Rice's .125. Neither team hit well in first set. Now Go Buffs!

14-10 TO Buffs. Looks like on the last 4 points by Buffs that came from kills (there was also an ace and a block), middle Pfefferle had all 4.

Better- 19-14 TO Rice.

Buffs with with 4-5 blocks for it's last 10 or so points. Block hasn't generally been that good so far this year (at least statistically), so this may be their best blocking run of the year.
