Who called in to The First Team on College Sports Radio on XM this morning?

One of you guys called into to The First Team with Greg McElroy and Taylor Zarzour, asking their take on the Buffs. First time I've ever heard a call in for Colorado. McElroy stated that he was impressed by the comeback win over CSU. They think Colorado will get a conference win this year (only one? whoopee) and that Mac needs more time.
They actually seemed to be pretty decently informed on the program. It was good to hear Buff talk on the radio show. SEC and tOSU talk can get kind of stale after a while.

I wish there was more Buff talk in CO. I live in SEC territory now and it's college football season all year round here. And no matter how bad they team is it's always in the media (i.e. TN for the last 5 yrs barring last year).
I remember the last time I called in to a Denver radio show about the buffs. It was right after Hawk's first season. They had been bashing CU saying that it was a terrible program and that we wouldn't be good again. So I called in and reminded them how good we were under Barnett and how recruiting was picking up that we were back on the rise!!.. They let me go and then went on about how sick they were of hearing about Barnett years and that CU didn't have a prayer.....
Sadly they never had to eat those words.

I heard the call as well and thought, DBT is that you? Then I remembered he only listens to other 90 year olds on the AM stations he is able to pick up on his transistor radio.

Fixed for generation Z.
So only the future DBTs heard the call?
what is this radio show you speak of?

Ha. I've never called a radio show. I only listen to 'em in the car on the way to and from work and, sometimes, at lunch. Denver sports radio is 99.9% Broncos/NFL. It's sickening. I'd bet Southern Cal is similar though. Al is really disappointing to me. He hardly ever talks about the Buffs and when he does, he has no clue what the hell he's talking about. But I hate that other guy so much, I never turn their show on anyway.

What?! You don't like DoucheMac?

You can't really get mad at hosts for not talking college football around here, the ones that run the radio station make decisions based on ratings.

Yeah, and the Buffs are pretty irrelevant nationally. If we start to compete, I imagine we'll get more coverage, but not counting on it.

Back in my day, dad-gummit, Irv & Joe talked Buffs a lot and John Riegle was great. The other K-BIG hosts talked a fair amount of college ball, too. I think Irv & Joe might still be on somewhere, but I gave up on sports talk many years ago for the following reasons:

1. Way too much focus on the Broncos.
2. Obnoxious hosts who beat subjects to death. Usually Broncos subjects.
3. I never need to hear another pro athlete interview for the rest of my life. They can't possibly say anything I haven't heard 10,000 times already.
4. Outright hostility towards the Buffs from so many.
5. Did I mention too much Broncos coverage?

We got a little discussion by Frei and Gomez on the fan this morning-standard stuff (got a great chance to beat both OSU and WSU, showed me by the way they talked about Oregon that neither had actually watched the Ducks this year-Our chances against the Ducks are one thing, but you're kidding yourself if you think they're a national title contender.......where do you find a couple extra wins?, etc.), but let's not kid ourselves.....Denver sports radio sucks-so Broncos devoted that Sandy and Scott spent a good half hour discussing whether it made more sense to give Manning Wednesday or Thursday off last week.......Really? I get why we're not that interesting, and little brother is probably less so (though that goober Frei thought they'd make a bowl with ease-which I don't agree with)......but AFA went to Michigan State and acquitted themselves extremely well against the best team in the country (in my opinion).....Aren't they worthy of some attention?

Most of the sports talk guys in Colorado couldn't find Boulder on a map if they had Google maps helping them. Buff talk doesn't sell advertising so they don't bother.

Frei at least shows an interest but as the papers continue to pare down staff guys get spread thin and they rarely have anyone who has much of a clue. I like Frei though, he tries to be fair and is interesting to read and listen to. I also appreciate the work he has done in remembering those in our greatest generation.

Colorado though is also a bandwagon market. We get back into the top 25 and Folsom becomes a tough ticket for big games and suddenly all these clowns will become "longtime fans."

Definitely a bandwagon market here. I will say though that there are more CU fans out there than we would think.
