Is it time to sit Sefo?

Kid has heart and is a warrior. Wants to win but doesn't have the skill set to win at this level. Past performance is best indicator of future performance. Time to build for the future.

I say sit him

I think most fans would agree we need to at least see the other guys, but clearly Mac has no interest in throwing them in there. Confidence in them must be zero.

Arizona may get ugly fast. Their QB can run.

If we do see another QB id like to see him before the game is in garbage time. If the coaches even decide to play someone else at all.

I guess I'd say that those who think Sefo should sit are kind of saying they don't trust this coaching staff to know who gives us the best chance to win. And, hey, it's kind of hard to argue with that logic.

As much as Sefo frustrated me yesterday the oline is as much to blame as him

Which might be a good reason to give him a week off just to heal up a little and decompress.

I don't want to burn Montez's RS under these circumstances. If we can't protect for Sefo we won't protect Montez and we risk repeating the same process of forming bad habits instead of good.

Apsay may never be more that a back-up but if so let's at least develop a quality back-up. Give him some time to find out if he can be more.

Team Apsay. Sefo's as tough as they come, but the truth is he's just not a good QB. I think a lot of CU fans are scared to say that because he's played his ass off for us. But he's not accurate and turns the ball over way too much. Not to mention his dismal conference record as a starting QB. Obviously not all his fault, but he has cost us games. We literally have nothing to lose but another conference game if we give Apsay a shot. And we probably would lose that game with Sefo anyway.

I don't doubt the coaches are right in thinking Sefo gives us the best chance to win, but I seriously wonder if they are trying to build depth and develop anyone else on the roster. Playing Sefo into the 4th quarter against Nicholls and the entire game last night would be stupid if Sefo was healthy. It looks even worse knowing he is not healthy and knowing he will take a lot of hits behind this patchwork OL. The best answer MacIntyre can muster is "we are trying to win games"? Really?

If they don't want to burn Montez's shirt, at least by playing Gehrke or Apsay they bring in more zone read and rollout stuff. That's the scheme that the rest of the offense will need to be used to when Montez takes over next season.

I just have to believe that if Gehrke or Apsay were even close to Sefo, they'd be getting playing time. At least in the coach's eyes. So, my assumption is that they are not close.

So why risk your starting QB in a blowout loss? Sefo took a lot of hits last night after the game was out of reach.

The only thing that makes any sense to me is they were desperate to keep the game score looking kinda decent.

we need to see some guys step in during the first or second quarter at QB. Even if it's just for one series or so, give some backups some snaps. Sefo won't last this season behind this line.

Montez next season for reals?

This play. This. You cannot miss this throw. It's his head.

Montez next season for reals?

I noticed that too. If MM is truly coaching for his life here, there is no way he starts anyone but Sefo.
Next year I'd like to see Montez and Sefo rotate until Montez is ready to go. Sefo would actually be a great back up QB.

That was likely a 15-20 yard gain if not airmailed.

I'd say way more. The safety near him was out of position and would've had to make a shoestring tackle and the rest of the field was wide open. He probably doesn't have the speed to score there, but that's a big gain at least.

And like slider said, look at how awful his footwork is there.

I'm all in for Apsay. Our starting QB has no confidence and is not getting it done. He missed routine passes by a mile in the ASU game. This has been an issue since game one.

Apsay must be in the dog house big time, because it makes no sense to me why he wouldn't have at least seen some time in the game last night. I am losing faith big time in this staff for what they did last night. We are seeing coaches all over America pulling QB's for lack of production, yet we have found every excuse in the book for ours. I'm still pissed about it.
