Frustated

What the hell? 13 conference losses in a row. Last in the south every year. I cant remember the last bowl game. Frustration has set in. Why cant we recruit some athletes?

I'm done with Mac and the OC. Just tired of CU sucking the fun out of every weekend of the best season in Colorado. Hope someone with deeper pockets than mine can pony up the buyout money so we can upgrade.

Upgrade? Is it a given that we'll actually upgrade? We've gone bargain basement with the past two hires.

This was a very winnable game.

I see potential with some of our young players.

However, I also see a legacy of Loser Mentality by the older players and coaches.

This **** is rediculous. I'm OK with moving on to another coach I guess.

How long until we win? The team has no killer instincts and losing is a way of life for them. No energy or fight especially the offense in the fourth quarter. As I saw Shay Fields leave on crutches I saw the 0 fer in conference again. Mac needs to win 1 of 2 on the road or he better not be back in Boulder unless it's cleaning his office out.

...and 3 years later it'll likely be the same **** of chomping for a new hire as the 4-8 seasons pour in. At some point over the next 5 or so otherwise failed hires we may discover a miracle-worker who can take senior-laden squads and deliver us a couple of 6 win seasons with mid December bowl games sponsored by Gas-X played in baseball stadiums.

I see some talent on this team.

What I didn't see was a killer instinct by the team or the offensive coaching staff in the 3rd quarter, when this game could have been won.

It'd kill for a 6 win season at this point.

I was waiting for something bad to happen, I'll be honest. This team is great at that. Problem is it's like both the coaches and players feel that way too. We had our chance in the 3rd to get some breathing room. Lee, great return but you got tackled by the kicker. Come on man, that was 6 too.

Mike wrote this story the day he announced his staff. Instead of using the money to hire more qualified coordinators, he have his buddies a fat undeserved payday. Recruiting WAC players will not work in any P5 conference. Always hire people who are better than you. And with the exception of JL that didn't happen. Now it's too late for him. The chances of hiring quality assistants are essentially nil.

We had so much momentum in the third and just turtled it away. Unreal. We did not put our foot on their throat and instead could not get a first down with the horrible play calling. The defense deserved better but were trotted out there time and again without the O getting a first down. And to make it worse, Sefo takes a horrible sack instead of throwing it away. The offense needs a change in mentality badly.

"Why can't recruit some players?"

Why can't coaching-up occur with the players that are recruited?
I think we are seeing that from Leavitt and co. We still see the occasional blown play, but for the most part, guys are in position, playing their assignments, taking much better angles, and tackling in space. We are pretty vanilla, but we are still getting some nice coverage sacks and some pressure from the edge. I think we were all scared to see what another freshman would do thrown into the chaos and he played pretty damn well. Dual threat QBs are too much for our lack of talent and depth, and I can't really blame the defense for getting torched late by him when they got stop after stop with little offensive help the entire game.

Was it me or was that last play done a bit too early?
I mean we had the first down, they could have gone down with the stopped clock, ground the ball, and then give her the ol' heave ho for the end zone.

Ridiculous ending...horrid coaching, no killer instinct. Wazzu will destroy us!

I know and I'm going to the game.

I honestly am at an all time low, my faith in Mac is at about a 1 on a scale of 100. On the other hand Bill Mac had similar success in his first 3 years and got the thing to levels never seen. I think they have to give him next year, if for nothing else to show the next guy "we will give you the time you need" I know all the benefit we have received from being in the PAC. At the same time I look at both of the Zona schools, joined the then PAC-8 in 1978 and have 3 outright conference titles and 1 split. That does not instill a lot of confidence, at least not in me. Unless they can back up a Brinks truck and convince Chip Kelly that Boulder is where he should be over SoCal and Austin I am afraid we are seeing the reality, with possibly the accidental 8 win season once or twice a generation. Not sure I can be this invested in this going forward.

But Big Jim thinks there is no reason to be frustrated. Only resigned.

Is there anyone other than Lindgren who is available/capable to take on play calling responsibilities?

Kansas seems to get their pile of dog**** together once a year so just grow a sack and win a ****ing game. ONE ****ING GAME.

Embree found a way to get three times the number of Pac wins at this point, even with a few extra chances for MM for good measure. **** the eye test, that should tell you everything.

Another nail in the coffin for me last night. This staff once again (HC/OC) not attempting to ensure a win, but rather attempting not to lose. 7pt lead in the PAC is bug spit. Horrible play calling at really key moments. Poor execution, in critical plays by team leader. Unimaginative play calling. Devotion to team situations that are stalled or erratic.

Despite some improved talent on the field which is progress, scheme and key player execution remain ineffective when it really matters.

Suspect RG's phone line has been busy today on an outgoing basis. This will not stand given current program strides under RG. If we remain inept in conference, which is highly likely, change will come sooner rather than later.

*Impressive fan effort and support last night, give em something to cheer about!

* CDOT..... WTF? Geez Louise! Damn! 36 nightmare for no apparent reason!

Maybe I'm mis-remembering, but I thought part of the deal when we hired MM was that *we* wanted him to bring his entire staff from SJSU.
People were still lamenting the fact that the Boise staff got fractured when we hired Hawkins.
