We now take you to Louisville, KY

Suppose it belongs in the basketball forum, although it wouldn't surprise me if it impacted the football team too.

So the next step is self-sanctions and an institutional effort to deemphasize sports for a decade until every program sucks, right? It's the only path that makes sense.

Especially on the unsubstantiated word of a prostitute!

Certainly following the lead of their head coach here. A true motivator!

Maybe I am not looking at this right but it really rubs me the wrong way that a recruit that went on a visit and made the decision to partake in these activities then comes out and outs the program for providing it.

OTL on ESPN is airing a program on the scandal right now.

This story is giving me flashbacks.
The comparisons will be made. But it seems silly to compare a party held on campus to some recruits who were invited to a private party in town by someone unaffiliated with the University.

I think you're confusing the off campus Simpson party with the Pasha (sp?) stripper parties. Two separate things I believe.

I suppose there will be a media feeding frenzy and an idiot governor threatening to step in...

I believe Andre McGee's older brother played PG for CU during the Harrison years.

Sad story.

Yup. Antoine. One of the reasons we had an outside chance at Andre when he was a 5* recruit.

Andre McGee - 5* recruit? No way. And if someone ever rated him a 5* then I hope they've found their true calling because it isn't scouting.

Looking around and it appears you're right, most have him high 3*/low 4*. I swore he was a 5* at one point, but I must have remembered incorrectly.

I remember playing a pickup game at the rec with Anoine McGee. Dude wasn't much taller than me, but dude totally drop step dunked right in my face. He was always my buddies favorite player, I think because he looked like he was in his mid-40's.

Not that my memory is the best, but I agree with you. I don't recall him being a five, but he was definitely a high-4 at one point. I think his ranking dropped off his senior year, but Andre was still highly thought of. I'm actually surprised that he ultimately ended up as a high-3...swore he was still a top 50 player at the end.

Sad situation...will be interesting to see how it plays out. The woman seems to have good records and they can name top names. Pitino is a HOFer...does the NCAA have the balls to do punish him? I for one actually don't think Rick had any clue that Andre was paying for all of this, but yes, Rick definitely did show lack of control in his program, trusting the wrong assistant and applying the wrong pressure and message.

Andre was a good college player and I remember him fairly well, but he just din't have the physical tools to ever be considered a 5*. Certainly a top 100-150 guy. Maybe kinda like how Dom started out as a top 40 guy & then people realized he just wasn't going to grow enough physically, but McGee obviously had older brothers who should've showed to scouts how limited he'd become physically.

I continue to wonder how long it will be until somebody in congress tries to make a name for themselves and goes after the NCAA for lack of control over these things.

They will do it in the name of women's rights and of protecting innocent students as well as the argument about "taking advantage of the athletes." Based on the past few years it would be an easy argument to make in a public forum.

Result, federal oversight and regulation of college sports in a way that makes it hard for even the clean programs to comply.

Pitino is outraged... OUTRAGED!... that the NCAA frowns upon his assistants hiring prostitutes for recruits and players.
