CU would be competing to play in a conference championship game this season.

Colorado (4-4)
Missouri (4-4)
Kansas State (3-4)
Nebraska (3-5)
Iowa State (2-5)
Kansas (0-7)

Yup. Unreal. That 4-4 Mizzou side hasn't scored a TD in 200 minutes and Darth Snyder can't win a conference game. We'd be in the thick of it, those are some miserable teams.

I was basking in the glory of Nebraska being 3-5 and was curious to come across threads about how they miss the Big XII/Big 8...more Big 8 (still plenty of animosity towards Texas and realization TCU and Baylor would hang 80 on them). Seems to be ever-increasing nostalgia for facing OU, CU and MU as they realize they aren't as good a fit in the B1G, both culturally and recruiting. B1G isn't so rosy right now when you're a **** team that's lost its identity and it's fantastic watching them come to terms with it. 4-8 seasons playing conference foes Maryland and Northwestern just don't have that appeal.

Thats hollow cause we'd still be ****ty have a false sense of importance. We will still have things to figure out.

If we were still in the Big 12, our roster would be worse though. A good deal of our recruits come partly because we're a Pac-12 school.
Yeah, we really tear it up in Cali now. Our recruiting couldn't be worse, and it wouldn't be worse because we rarely recruit against Pac12 foes.

This place can be really toxic, obnoxious, and tiresome. The football forum is worse than the political forum most weekends. Each poster has their predetermined and firmly entrenched roles and repeats their narrative ad nauseam after every game. Sucks.

I just want to enjoy finally not being the worst team in the conference and hope we can get a couple of upsets as we head into the final stretch.

Hey, it's just my opinion. I started following the Huskers in the 70's as a young boy, attended UNL in the early 80's during the "scoring explosion" of Gill, Rozier, & Fryar, followed the team closely and travelled to a lot of games in the 80's and 90's.......and then on that fateful day in 2001 in Boulder my football soul was crushed and it has never been the same since. Followed that up with an undeserved appearance in the NC game of 2001, bad timing and coaching decisions made getting rid of Solich, hiring Callahan, Pederson, tearing down the history of the program, distancing the program from former players, destroying our power running identity, going WCO, replacing those mistakes with an a$$hole of a coach in Pelini, winning no games of substance, no championships, getting blown out and embarrassed in any game that mattered , numerous defensive futility records, almost all strings and records broken in the last 15 years. Yeah, there were a few bright spots thrown in there......a few. I'll still stand by my statement that the last 15 years has basically sucked compared to what we once were, and I'm not just talking 94 thru 97, cause nothing is going hang with that comparison. I'm an old geezer I guess but I do feel sorry that many of the younger fans seem to think 9 meaningless wins against average to bad teams actually means something. TO almost always had us one heartbreaking loss away from a natty and perpetually in the top ten. Sorry, but if the height of a persons fandom has been post 1997, that person simply does not understand what it was like to be on top of the CFB world. But I am also jealous of those people because they seem to be able to elicit a bit more joy and happiness out of whatever it is we have been doing on the football field for the last 15 years. And those fans have my respect because I'm pretty sure I would not be the fan I am without the pre 1997 base I have. If I had to start during the Callahan regime, I don't think there is any way in hell I could be a Husker fan.

This Husker fan is plowing down the rabbit hole of Nebraska lore:

On November 23, 2001, Folsom Field Boulder, Colorado -No. 1 ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers were stunned by the 14th ranked Colorado Buffaloes. Nebraska surrendered 380 rushing yards, 202 through the air the most ever total yards given up in years and 62 points. Nebraska was down shockingly 42-23 at the half. The entire United States of America was witnessing one of the most storied football programs in history get demoralized on national television. The final score:

It was a sad day to be a Nebraska fan and most fans circle this as the most heart wrenching loss in the history of the program and I to this day will say this serves as the day old Nebraska football fell from grace but nothing was more heartbreaking than the infamous "Crying Nebraska kid."

After a series of upsets of top ranked teams, not one team could capitalize on the No. 2 BCS ranking and it became a mess as 8 TEAMS total miraculously fall ahead of Nebraska and now controversy begins. Would a 10-2 Nebraska team who just suffered a lopsided loss and did not win their own conference back their way into the BCS National Championship game in a historic clash with the Miami Hurricanes?

Colorado would go on to defeat the Texas Longhorns in the Big XII title game and on the BCS selection show a controversy was born. 10-2 Nebraska who did NOT win their conference was selected by the BCS computers as the No.2 best team and would go on to face the Miami Hurricanes in the 2002 Rose Bowl BCS National Championship Game. The Colorado Buffaloes No. 4 BCS upset by the selection was chosen to play No. 3 BCS Oregon who felt they deserved a shot at the Miami Hurricanes. Nebraska stood no chance as the Miami Hurricanes from top to bottom had NFL talent abroad. They embarrass the Nebraska Cornhuskers 37-14 in the Rose Bowl.

Nub fan forgets his history. They were a 1 loss team, not two. He is absolutely dead on that Colorado Ended Nebraska.

It's the nature of the beast. People are being honest when expressing their reaction to the game and to the team.

Players need to learn how to win, and maybe the fans do, too.

If you want a homework assignment to feel better about this place, go read the game thread over at BaylorFans.
