CU at UCLA Pre-Pregame thread

So you bought tix at the Rose Bowl and had plans to travel to Pasadena and then your wife said "no, you must cancel your trip"?

Dude. That sucks.

One thing to be happy about with the remaining schedule: we are done with the spread option attacks, with the possible exception of Utah.

UCLA: Josh Rosen 17 rushes for minus 18 yards
Stanford: Kevin Hogan 28 rushes for 74 yards
WSU: Luke Falk 56 rushes for minus 62 yards
USC: Cody Kessler 26 rushes for minus 69 yards
Utah: Travis Wilson 58 rushes for 238 yards (2nd leading rusher with 20% of the carries, so this may be the exception)

By comparison: Sefo - 84 rushes for 168 yards (23% of the carries - but thrown off because of his happy feet on pass plays)

The mistakes we made against OSU will be exposed against a team like UCLA. This could get ugly fast.

Team should be confident against UCLA after playing them to the wire last season. Puncher's chance in this one. Especially with Perkins likely to be out (injured knee vs Cal).

A lot of it hinges on how Rosen plays. He's a freshman who has certainly flashed as a future star. But he's also had rocky games like any freshman will have.

Need to tackle better against Jamabo

Would be nice, I'm very happy the Buffs proved me wrong by winning a road game, and yes last year was a toss-up -- but not very realistic to think there's been a turnaround and road games against good teams are winnable. Hoping they prove me wrong again...

Pretty much can't spot them any lead at all. Once UCLA gets a lead, our offense isn't mentally tough enough to answer. Basically, we need UCLA to make a bunch of mistakes. We need turnovers, penalties, and sloppy, uninspired play from UCLA.

I want such an ugly football game that, by comparison, last night's game is used to teach football clinics. Announcers with nothing to say. Fans falling asleep in the stands. Online fans bitching. ESPN, FS1, PACN and CU Video having trouble pulling highlights together afterward. And all of that plus a CU victory would be the most beautiful football game of the year for this Buffs fan.

And the fact PAC 12 home teams have a losing record this season (someone will have to fact check that, but that's what I remember seeing on the tube).
Quick scan says Pac 12 teams are 12-13 at home in conference games so far this year. Quirky situation.

We are fragile, UCLA is a headcase team though as well.

If we can get a couple of turnovers and turn them into points we have a chance. A pick6 or fumble recovery in the red zone that we score a TD on might make UCLA fall apart, they are a program that has done that before, even with their talent.

I've seen this reference to us being fragile so many times and I don't get it. For all their faults, this team does not give up. I think they've shown a tremendous resilience. They've had ample opportunities to open up a can of quit and I just haven't seen it. I'm not worried about their fragility. I am worried about them just not being talented enough to keep up with the athletes at UCLA

Completely agree.
