Nothing really jumps out at me from the above.

On offense, we get a lot of 1st downs, run the ball pretty well, move the ball pretty well, and then our inability to capitalize in the red zone is probably the biggest thing holding back scoring.

On defense, scoring is much better than total -- bend but don't break. Pass defense is solid, but run defense is bad. Doing a decent job in the red zone and really rising up in 4th down situations.

Turnover Margin is a huge improvement over last season.

Special teams are completely mediocre. Kickoff returns are a bit higher than I thought they'd be ranked. On the individual side, Diego is 22nd in FG per game and 74th in FG% -- the attempts pointing to struggles with red zone offense and the % being a bit below average as expected.

So it seems to me there is really very little improvement over last year except maybe a few D stats and the O taking a pretty big step back this year. Ugh.

Biggest Issues I see...IMO
Kick off Return D- 81st....teams get good field position of kickoffs
TFL- 108th we don't get into backfield
Rushing D- 110, PAC can run but really? 110th
3rd Down D-94 we don't stop people on 3rd downs
Total D- 96
Net Punting: 92nd...we cant change field position
Red Zone Offense 110th ...ouch

Bad:

Red Zone Offense - Down 84 spots (Definitely think this is skewed by Nicholls State)
Fumbles Lost - Down 77 spots
Net Punting - Down 67 spots (Losing a senior punter?)
Sacks Allowed - Down 41 spots
Passing Offense - Down 33 spots
Completion Percentage - Down 33 spots
Time of Possession - Down 28 spots
3rd Down Conversion Pct Defense - Down 28 spots
Punt Returns - Down 17 spots
First Downs Defense - Down 15 spots
Kickoff Returns - Down 11 spots

Excluded anything that moved 10 or less spots from both lists.

Is the kneel down at the end of the game included? (sure the fumble and missed conversion earlier didn't help either)

I looked into our redzone numbers. It's actually not as bad as it looks.

We've scored on 26/34 chances in the redzone. Here are the 8 times we came away with no points:

Hawaii - Sefo throws an ugly INT
Hawaii - End of game
CSU - Blocked FG
Nicholls - Powell fumble fighting for extra yards
Nicholls - Turnover on downs (I thought Sefo got it)
Nicholls - Missed FG
Nicholls - End of game
Oregon State - Sefo sacked on the 19 for a 9 yard loss then a missed FG

We've actually been pretty good in the red zone since the OOC. Take out Nicholls entirely (we went 5 for 9 in the red zone) and we'd be tied for 69th.

These two stand out to me:

Red Zone Offense: 107th (tie)
Rushing Defense: 110th
Yep, just read this thread. Those two are a definition of a struggling team. Our total D is a little improved. I figured something around 80-90, so we are seeing a little progress there, but might be more to do with some of the teams we have played.

I still shake my head about special teams. This coach has to be laughing to the bank every day.

I tend to look at the conference games only stats. It takes out some of the outliers like Nicholls and UMass made the rushing stats look better than they are.

We are giving up over 500 yards per game in the conference games. And we will face our first ranked team this weekend.
