For those anxious for the college basketball seasons to start, it looks like the 1st opportunity to publicly see a Buff team is the women this Saturday evening, as they host an exhibition game against the USC (U. of South Carolina)- Aiken Pacers.

Live Stream - http://pac-12.com/live/university-colorado

(Per http://www.buffzone.com/buffzonetop...-basketball-buffs-hosting-smu-final-preseason , the men are also having a final pre-season scrimmage on Saturday (hosting SMU), but that one is evidently closed to the public.)

I'll be there! And, I think an exhibition is a little more formal than public scrimmage. First game with quarters, weird...
I'm guessing we'll be doing something like Swan/Smith/Beard-Fails/Huggy/Thomas? That would be kind of be a PF/F/F/SF/G :)

Be interesting to see who they will start. Just going off minutes played last year,, assume your lineup is most likely (although who knows what coaches might want to look at in a scrimmage, and assume if any player has even a minor injury, they might get held out tomorrow).

(I have changed the scrimmage wording to exhibition. Thanks for the suggestion- definitely a more accurate word.)

I am happy that this is being live streamed so I can watch it from the midwest. Correct that normally coaches do not take chances with already injured players in exhibition games. Not worth the risk in a game that does not count for anything. While the correct term is exhibition, it really is a scrimmage.

It's finally November!

Doing a happy dance even though I know exhibition games don't mean a thing. All we want is for nobody to get hurt. Go Buffs!

Is it to early to say i think Kennedy Leornard is gonna be a star! Love her! Great vision, quick, good shooter, makes good decisions. She may already be the best player on the team next to Swan!

She is a freshman so I dont expect the world from her...yet, but she looks like the real deal.

I am excited about all our freshman! Very good class.

Totally agree. Handles well, getting a bunch of assists tonight, drives to the basket and hits outside.

leonard is 5-6 from the field, 12 pts and 8 assists so far. 7 mins left in the games.
Ellis and Robinson scoring some points in the second half.

Alexis Robinson also a lot of fun to watch out there. A Lot of energy, nice shot, really runs the floor

Yeah I think both Robinson and Leonard have the speed and quickness that we so badly needed on this team.

Looks like Ellis Robinson and Leonard will get plenty of playing time this season and Leonard will start. Ellis started tonight too but not sure if she will be the starter during the season. She did look pretty good tonight, so she might.

Sad to hear about Burich being out for the season.

This has me a much more bullish on the upcoming WBB season. Trying not to read to much into a scrimmage... but freshmen can make impacts in hoops.

Oh, and still got swan going to town in the post. I hope she keeps herself in the games, and can make all pac.

Leonard reminds me so much of Shelley Sheets in the way she plays: fearless and smart; obviously has a high basketball IQ!
Since she played at a high club level, would like to think she can sustain her tempo all year despite being a frosh.

What I was thinking as I watched her last night. Sheetz started from her first game as a freshman and I'm thinking the same will be true of Leonard.

Leonard is no surprise for me. She played on one of the top club teams in the country and was a starter in the back court. (Makenzie Ellis was a teammate, but not a starter). She has some rare skills and above all seems to be a natural leader.

Now, I wish I could be optimistic as some of the posters on this board about the prospects for a winning season, but given the dependency on youth and lack of numbers/ depth I'll go record as saying the record will be about what it was last season. At the same time the three healthy freshmen will all make significant contributions and give some hope for a bright future. (If only there could be another class as good as this group of freshmen to make me believe there is hope in the long run.)

My friend who was at the game felt Ellis was a step slow and a bit tentative with her knee. That may solve itself in time as she gains confidence.

We both observed that we need players with more size and muscle on their bodies. Our players are too small when it comes to Pac 12 play.

Since Bri Watts didn't get in to the exhibition game, does that mean her career is the end of the bench?

We also need to shoot free throws better. That has hurt us in past years and if the exhibition game was any indication, this team has the same problem.

Don't forget turnovers as well. They committed 19 turnovers the other day v a lesser opponent.

Boy am I sounding pessimistic these days.
